Honestly I like it that way. It fits perfectly into the whole mercenary thing. You get a job and you do it - kill the bad guy - without having to know who he is and why he's doing all of this. It shows that you're not a hero... you are just a soldier of fortune.

This was a time where we used to just get a "Game Over" screen, and then restart the game to try again. Good thing this wasn't a time where if you died, you'll need to collect your "destroyed parts" and with the risk of losing said parts if you die twice!

As far as I remember, Leos was confirmed (by their japanese website) to be the Nine Breaker from AC:MoA. But Antares was just an another guy. There was no official backstory for him. So it's just wishful thinking that he's the player charater from AC2.
