munitions deflection is mildly annoying, the fact that they made the damage system a rock-paper-scissors in a game where the correct answer is using more bullets is obnoxious when compared to every generation before 5th, and having to hotswap combat/scan mode for a modicum of oldgen AC energy management is agonizing. wallkicks for better horizontal movement was an absolutely genius move, and it gave another way for tanks to be more unique in a generation that favored its fatlad builds. really wish they added the wallkicks to 6 instead of hard camera tracking with a stagger buildup mechanic and borderline auto-aim in a game with attacker sided hit registration. the only thing that could have made 5th gen legitimately terrible would have been the return of AC3 Radiator mechanics. fuck that part, glad it's gone.

@@tango5thetargeted73 but fast doesnt = good. People forget that 4/4a was a huge departure from the formula. It was fun don't get me wrong, but gen 5 just leaned into aspects that were also present in the older games. Weight, tactical decisions, vulnerability.

VD is still the best AC game in terms of sheer gameplay. 4th gen is fun and gets second place for story and gameplay, then 6 gets 3rd place for it’s story and way less than 3rd place for its god awful staggercentric gameplay focus.

I note that the fight against [Cancer / Zodiac No. 7] on Story Mission 01 at 10:29 was not completed by me but rather by TidusTheGame. (Video at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIjQfodompqeaM0&ab_channel=TidusTheGame) The prerequisite to unlock this boss requires the completion of Story Mission 01 under 5 minutes whilst destroying all enemies and receiving less than 5000 AP damage. In the two videos I could find that showed this feat they were using one of the earlier patches where certain weapons and builds were much stronger then they are in the emulator version. An example of which is the Gatling Guns that they used which were approximately 35% stronger. Additionally, the load of the builds used was much lower resulting in faster movement. The batteries and boosters were also significantly more impressive back then, but since have received around a 30% nerf. Finally the actually armoured train (though not confirmed) seemed to have a much lower KE resistance value. With all of the above taken into account, its bloody hard to pull of these days and after an hour and a half of trying I gave up. Unlocking the other Zodiacs were difficult enough as it is, yet alone this one.

Personally, 5th gen is my favorite in the series, but the biggest downside to 5 is its story. I believe it's not as bad as everyone thinks, but Verdict Day is better in almost every regard, so that ends up being the game which sees the spotlight more - and for good reason too. I see Verdict Day as criminally underrated, but 5 is lackluster overall, especially in comparison.

Verdict day I agree is criminally underrated, brilliant throughout. I agree as well that AC5 also gets some bad rap for its stories, I quite enjoyed it, especially all elements to do with Chief. Biggest down side of AC5 I think is that its much too easy at times (with the exception of some real asshole Order Missions), and that you have to try quite hard to get anything with a little bit of speed relative to AC6 and AC4.

i believe all armored cores were underrated. though would of been great to see what exactly happens after the answer into v as a movie or animation. Another thing i found it insanely hard to find V disc then verdict day !!!!

Yeah I agree it would be great to see what happened between FA and V, though I suppose that could lock-in a canon ending which they'd likely try to avoid. My brother was pretty lucky on discs, while cleaning out some old stuff I found all of his old 360 AC games, which these days sell for some stupid prices.

Its not as bad as people say. Its not as good as Armored Core IV or For Answer, but those games are amazing. I enjoyed it as a game once I got the emulation issues sorted and would recommend any fan of the series give it a go. It just takes a little longer to get accustomed to.

Armored core 5 isn't terrible but it does have some underlying problems I'm sad to say that are made worse by the loss of its online function as an AC game it is definitely a slight misstep but I cannot say that I did not enjoy it I liked five it was still a good game these are really cool and have that kind of fallout vibe to them and the city combat is really fun the designs are also really gritty and interesting

No it's not that bad it has really good moments but overall it is sort of a 7 out of 10 for an AC game made worse by the loss of its online 😔 but at least online bosses are now available through emulation

People disliked it because it wasn’t as fast as they may have wanted. Also, the Leg designs were asymmetrical, which threw me the fuck off.
