I find it odd that so many people were expecting this to be a Souls type game just due to developer association, specifically after the countless times From said it wouldn't be. Not even close to the same game style y'all.
@Dragonpuncher123 Жыл бұрын
Roguelites are my favorite genre, but Jeff suggesting this should be a roguelite instead is pretty stupid. AC games is about the exact opposite, you are trying to create the perfect merch for a specific opportunity and playstyle. It’s a good thing that this is trying to do something else than a genre that is already getting over saturated.
@khalylehagood3222 Жыл бұрын
Actually it sounds like a great mode, but it shouldn't replace the game.
@Dragonpuncher123 Жыл бұрын
@@khalylehagood3222 Sure as an extra mode it would be fine. But it's fundamentally a completely different thing than what Armored Core is trying to do.
@MukiMuki688 Жыл бұрын
I do agree if AC has one weakness it's not always feeling like you're in a 65ft tall machine. MechWarrior is the only series, I can think of, to have a palpable sense of scale.
@pppppffffffmmmmmmmnn Жыл бұрын
The only thing that saddens me about Mechwarrior is it doesn't lean into the sim aspect nearly hard enough. We have no mech sims that have detailed damage subsystems, the way sim companies like DCS or 1C make theirs. Obviously those are modeled off real world machines, but it can be made up and still be a great sim.
@HiLoMusic Жыл бұрын
Scale still does rear it’s head though in some missions and not as much in others. I love recognizing small walkways and human-sized vehicles next to my mech, the level design is very charming
@khalylehagood3222 Жыл бұрын
If you go into the past the great Robot Associate Drive also had a good sense of scale.

Never played an armored core before, I have played and loved mechwarrior games in the past though. I always grew impatient with the movement speed of those behemoths. This seems really cool. I love all the customization. Thanks guys

Here is a bit of advise for Armored Core newcomers: - AC6 has a lot of replay value due to the decisions made throughout the campaign (that includes multiple endings), as well as the unlockables of New Game + and beyond! - For all newcomer Ravens, you DO NOT need to have played the previous AC games to get into this one, very similar on how Final Fantasy dev teams create its titles. - It plays different from Souls - same smooth, responsive controls. - Long range arsenal: bazookas, gatling guns, split missiles, plasma rifles and more. - Melee weaponry: Cluster bomb thrower, chainsaw, pulse blade, lances and more. - The movement speed is between AC3 and AC5 - There is a heavy focus on customization: Do not get married to a single build, be flexible. - There are tons of custom paint jobs and the posibility of downloading weapons for making decals. - Legs are one of the most important parts of your mech, because they determine how much weight your vehicle can carry. - Your power engine / energy source is another vital one as it modifies the amount of energy available, as well as how slow or fast your energy bar will recharge, when its depleted.

"Just one one number to tell me what is better." Oh, that is not what armored core is about. It's great because there is no really straight progression in that sense. So much weird things to build. Surprising amount of comparisons to the souls games.

As a big AC guy that has been obsessed since the old Tips N' Tricks magazine would publish user builds all the way into playing Coop on the PS3 with my treadhead buddies, if AC felt like a souls game... I would utterly devastated. I'm SO happy they kept the spirit of the game alive and separate from the more recent From Software legacy.

I haven't played an AC game since 3 on the ps2. I forgot how much i enjoyed this series. I'm relieved that this isn't another souls game, if it were i probably wouldn't enjoy it.

Uh, why are you grinding in Armored Core? You don't need to own every part available for purchase. That's why the parts sell for the same price that you bought them for. I've been an AC fan since the first PS1 game. 10 year old me barely understood how to make an AC or what the numbers meant, and yet I was able to complete them all and have fun doing so. It wasn't until AC3 that I sat down and had several epiphanies about the relationship between all of the components of your build. Point is, you're overthinking the Excel doc that the game puts before you. Just understand the tradeoffs that you'll have to make, which, I'd like to add, exist in just about every other video game ever (even Elden Ring!). Lastly, it's okay for a studio to make more than one kind of game. I was thrilled to hear that AC6 was going to be AC6 and not a Souls game masquerading as an Armored Core. And you're not obligated to like them all, either! I didn't know what else From was doing while making AC games back then and I didn't much care. They had weird shit like Forever Kingdom going on and I was all "Hey, that's cool, but not for me. When is the next Armored Core coming out?!"
@AntiSocialHero Жыл бұрын
I realize some of the more hardcore AC fans are going to come out of the woodwork and bash this video for some of their thoughts like “it’s not a souls-like, or maybe it should have been a rouge-lite” but you have to take it all in from the perspective of someone coming into the franchise fresh. The assumption is definitely there that it’s gonna be the new Souls but with roebits because the surface level marketing is selling it like that. Some people don’t like grinding the same exact levels repeatedly for materials and would rather have a more rouge-lite maybe randomized experience, so I see the validity of that comment also.

In the interview they said they were working on the skill tree since before launch. It feels like their refusal to do anything good on crafting because they have something else in the works. I'm not holding my breath. All this tells me is they rather release a game in a shitty state for short term injection of cash. I don't understand why they did just slap the Early Access label on it.
