I think the next arms game should use the artstyle that Min Min's smash trailer used, it would give it so much character

Most should note that Splatoon also has intricate details and world building (most region locked to Japan). Piranha pit is one of the many stages that I can think of with lore that is hinted at, being a gang of inklings whose leader is sympathetic for the octolings and has nine tentacles instead of 10 or 8 who claim the pit as their territory ( this was all stemming from a flag that is flying at the top of one snipe). I will also mention that we have weapon brands to. Also from what I remember party crashes did and still do the splatfest idea better.

Even as a massive Splatoon fan, I completely agree with you in terms of world building. It gets much more obivous when you look at the stages. It gets really hard to make mainly neutral colored stages for Splatoon so colors don't colide and have them tie into lore in some complex way meanwhile ARMS doesn't have any sort of restrictions in that regard.

I cannot comprehend how you only have 777 subscribers! Your content is very professional and interesting and the ARMS community isn't that small. I found one of your videos a few days ago and I'm completely hooked! You are criminally underrated!

Oh dang, look at you with a gf that shares your passions, congrats to you 2. Would love to hear more of Megan's thoughts in future videos. Also yeah, I agree immensely with the takes that ARMS is among the coolest of things Nintendo has made, period. The creativity in concept, design, world building and how its all executed. Much as i love their general library, nothing else comes close imo, even the stuff i have a lot more nostalgia for. My own hot takes: they shouldn't change how they already showcase lore much at all. I'm all for like, arcade mode intro and ending cinematics unique to each character,, but a full on story mode is uneeded in a game like this and how they've established their storytelling. I still think the folks clamoring for one as their main critique of the game are simply Nintendo fans that dont play much else not being used to how fighting games (generally) handle story. Hot take 2: I agree Splatoon comparisons are natural. On top of the misguided motion control marketing impacting ARMS not being as huge (though it still did well), i think other key factors are these; 1) Splatoon having more appeal in the youth culture emphasis and having a character creator be so major and 2) the state of their respective genres amongst casual audiences in general. It's just Splatoon is a natural perfect storm of mass appeal (though moreso in Japan it seems), a multiplayer shooter that Nintendo's fanbase can actually enjoy looking at with a whacky world setting and appeal to player inserts in the CaC. Whereas ARMS is more experimental, being a Nintendo take in a whacky world setting focused on recapturing a niche part in the already relatively niche fighting game genre where fans of said genre and Nintendo's playerbase generally don't mix to the point even smash's status as one was hotly debated for decades until recently. This isn't to say ARMS should change itself and adopt those aspects Splatoon has, I'd hate it if it did. But I think that's simply why Splatoon blew up so much compared to Nintendo's other new stuff, and that we shouldn't consider those other new things flops for not being as big. I'm alright with Splatoon btw, i don't hate it really at all, just didn't enjoy playing it as much i expected to.

Hot take Mechanica is the most fun to play as. I love her energy when I play as her. I would go out of my way to say she’s the best fighter in the series but I wouldn’t go that far. (She’s my main) I just rlly love Mechanica

Ok, here's a hot take if you ever do a third part: I don't disagree that the focus on motion controls held the game back. In fact, I would be thrilled if they took a step back from them and focused on the traditional controls scheme instead in order to allow characters to have a more fleshed out moveset. There's only so much you can do with gestures and four buttons after all, and the game would benefit so much if there was even one or two more buttons that could act as move options or modifiers. However, this poiny is assuming ARMS 2 will be released on a console very similar to the switch. If the next console has controllers that can be held separately but also have easy access to more buttons, then it would totally be possible to have an expanded moveset work well with motion controls. As someone who plays exclusively using motion, I would very much like this. Although I will concede that the advantages of sticks outweigh the advantages of motion, sidelining motion controls would somewhat diminish my enjoyment of the game. I do think the marketing should focus more on gameplay than motion controls, however.
