The perfect impressions of Flanders and Swann are probably lost on most people under 70, so let me just say that everything - the tune, the variations in tempo, Swann's shouty delivery of key words, Flanders's comic sinister growl, the language (except for one word, obvs) and just the whole physical presence - is perfect. It must have taken hours of study as well as the evident talent.

One of the greatest moments in comedy :) Any train in Britain I think has had a proper flushing toilet for years, but I've used trains in Europe where you still literally shit (perhaps with a simple flap) directly onto the tracks below. No need to worry about complicated flushing going wrong, so sadly less chance of a faecal mountain and all the entertainment it provides.

Londonfogey Well i cannot speak for others of my generation but this 1980's kid did grow up with Flanders & Swann (god bless you 8 Track Tapes). Took a few explainations from older family members / growing older to get all of the more subtle references though XD (such as "nill combustibus pro~fumo")
