Ermes really is a warrior. after losing his wrist, his main weapon, he didn't give up and jammed a bonelock in...risky move against such a force. and it worked, it stopped Levan. Levan legit couldn't pull through. still, his only game was defensive, a good defense, but still only on his side of the table all match long. 3. Ermes also made a mistake in round 4. he was 2 fouls up, had already found the lane...and changed it and got flashed. so...that is that. you could say he lost the match there. 4. Levan found his limit, its 188kg. he can't do 6 rounds with that weight, hardly did 4. he will have to think about this, just going bigger to keep the advantage is over. he got what he wanted (=win), but for sure that didn't look good, at all. nobody wants to see athletes that can't finish a match. 5. Ermes is young, and now knows a lane that works. imagine in 1 year, a rematch: who will adapt faster? The main issue for Levan is that he is too big (188 kg) and he never trains cardio (he did jokes about that in the past because he hate that). He should include it in his training... For example, all big bodybuilders (like Jay cutler, Dorian Yates, Kai greene etc) or strong man include cardio in their training because cardio allow you to get a big functional heart + increase your blood flow in your body (so speed your recovery in quicker and this avoid you to be gas out..). It is logic when you think.

I agree with your assessment. It’s difficult when health is involve, but as you stated he can accept the defeat of the final rounds if unable to continue or forfeit the final two rounds as he did. Levan was clearly the rightful winner at 4-2 but his pride may have gotten in the way of giving the arm wrestling community a deserved finish to the match if he truly was able to continue. Ermes proved he has the potential to beat the #1, and it’s a shame the match could not continue.

All due respect, but Levan did look in trouble to me. Levan looked like he was worried he was going to have a heart attack. He was on oxygen for a while and could barely do the interview. I think you need to be more charitable with Levan, this is his life you are talking about. I am wiling to bet that we will find out that his health is in trouble at this point. He is way too heavy and struggles with his breathing even at rest.

levan was actually looking great after winning the match (round 4). only one struggle (round 3), 2 very dominant rounds (1 and 2), a flash pin (round 4), looking to have another 6-0 in the bag. but round 5 totally bleed him out... (but still, he was in the dominant position, with ermes wrist totally cracked). he should at least give ermes the honor to pin him in the last 2 rounds btw... don't know how bad he was anyways... if only ermes stop happened a round earlier... and surprisingly enough, that earlier round was a flash pin... anyways, still don't see ermes defeating levan, if it was east vs west, levan win would be even easier... but he is definitely the closest person in the world to being able to do it (much closer than I thought). maybe a match with morozov, who is the only one that could challenge this place from him, since zaur is injured? very nice match! or maybe throw morozov direct to levan, if levan wants action? another thing to observe: prime denis could have stopped levan like ermes did, huh? i obviously root for Ermes as italian and im proud of him and what he did, i think Levan won legit and was not coward or anything, even if you didnt see any breath difficulty, if you watch before the quit, he point his heart bro, i do really think levan was scared for his own health and life so i really think he did the right choise and was very respectful with ermes by calling this the best match of his life... maybe was in panic or maybe was really the heart we dont know but we cant joke with those things, those athlets are at 120% of their body and nothing can be taken lightly. i really dont think that levan made that to be not pinned on the table because anyway the score is 4-2 and everyone saw that ermes could at least stop him sometimes, there is no difference, he made the right choice and respected the best opponent he faced in his career, ermes gasparini. health > everything else

The pros are not too sure about Zaur. None of us who are part of the community or follow very closely are sure really. Zaur hasn't really done anything note worthy and has never faced an elite opponent in a 1v1 supermatch, and his only notable win has been against Vitaly after Vitaly had just had a major and very hard fight against Silaev right before facing Zaur in a tournament format match. Zaur had pretty easy opponents all night long as compared to Vitaly and was noticeably fresher. Zaur needs to first prove himself first. A match vs Dave, then Ermes and if he can beat them both, then a shot at Levan. But until now, he's just all hype for those that think a tournament is comparable to a supermatch best of 6. It is definitely not and it is not best of 6. When Denis pulled him just practicing and not going all out, Zaur pinned him. Once Denis got a bit serious, not only did he stop Zaur, but he made him quit the practice match. It's speaks volumes about the bad endurance Zaur has and the subpar strength he has as compared to the top guys. The fact that Denis was not serious at first and the fact that he is weaker now and still stopped him is also not a plus for Zaur.

Levan should of stayed standing. Once he knew he couldn't finish him right away and Ermes with the flop wrist, staying up and climbing would have been a better move. Levan didn't adapt enough and relied on his power while Ermes found a way to stop Levan. Ermes won in so many ways even though Levan won the match. Ermes has gained so much more respect and truly the #2 right now.

Not sure if Levan just quit or if he was starting to have some breathing problems. I could hear and see he was having breathing issues,he was gasping for air pretty heavily. Big guys like him do not breathe well unless they are into cardio workouts in a major way. Levan lasted a round longer than I thought he would. Ermes is a warrior. All 3 matches were great matches. It was a great day of arm wrestling.

Round 3 Ermes had an unbeatable press position but got called for a stop foul when there was no position gained (runner). He would have won 4-2 if the fouls were called properly since Levan was having heart pains at the end of round 3.
