MP's also conduct combat missions like convoy escorts and area security like the infantry. The Military Police is basically a multi-purpose soldier. Law enforcement is one of the many missions MPs have.

​@Sammy-xi3cf "nonething" It's true. U.S. Army MPs 's learn both law enforcement and infantry tactics. They conduct infantry duties when needed, as a combat support role, they're tasked with protecting from the rear, and when there is more firepower needed, they are called to help. That's why they have the 249, 240B, .50, 320, you name it. They have more firepower than y'all and you know it.

To anybody thinking about joining as military police or 31B we are going through a huge downsizing of the MP core as a whole. MP's are getting cut down by a third in the next few years. If you have any questions about the MOS HMU

​@@1a2009-xInfantry is significantly different than being an MP. Infantry would focus on mostly combat and field training will be a constant. MP's also do field training, but usually in cycles, switching between being law enforcement wherever you are stationed, potentially being placed at gates (although MP's aren't being used as gate guards as much anymore), and sometimes riot control training (mostly national guard units and reserve units focus on this).

The US Army was like a 2hd family to me too,so I volunteered to go fight in Iraq ( I also did 2 tours back-to-back ) on 4 deployments with Texas Guard infantry units.I wanted on that-SMOKE !!! LOL. I was bored working 2 full-time civilian jobs ( did this for 10 months ) wanted some action and extreme danger ( the possibility of getting killed-LOL ) so,I was already in the Guard,so got orders and off i went to Iraq. And my life was never the same ever again.
