I was a Corpsman. I went to bootcamp, "A" school, crossed trained in Quantico VA, then FMTB, then my first duty station blue side for 2 yrs. I worked at family practice, internal medicine for a year, then I worked at dermatology for a year where I learned so much, it helped with my deployment in Afghan. I then rotated to green side where I deployed with the Marines to Afghan. Fun times, I miss it.

EMT Kimber I was losing on average about 3 to 4 pounds a week which is what's healthy. that's partly why it took me so long to lose the weight. I really appreciate the support. I love you and comments like yours!

Ej Nappe Sweet man, I am excited to join the brothers and sisters in the Navy as well, and look forward to your content. Right now I'm in taking about 1200 calories a day, I run everyday, and bike and swim on off days but I'm not seeing as much right now.
@EjNappe7 жыл бұрын
EMT Kimber cutting calories won't work if your still eating things high in sugar and saturated fats. I lost my weight by controlling my portions, eating more fruits and vegetables, and by drinking lots of water, like a liter a day, water helps with the digestion process. also remember, pushups and sit ups can be done anyplace and at anytime.
@2Coxonaboat7 жыл бұрын
Ej Nappe I eat more veggies than fruit, I drink only water and I eat chicken and egg whites a few times a week. this last week I've seen about a .2 drop a day... maybe I'll try something different.

A 68W and 8404 HM have similar training. I'd say an 8404 Corpsman is slightly better trained just because we have a separate school devoted entirely to TCCC, TACEVAC, small arms familiarization, etc. which is a good ass kicking. The 68W's have to stuff both their field, classroom and clinical training all in a 5 month period at Fort Sam so the soldiers get complacent. But the training itself is largely the same. A quad zero Corpsman is basically useless right out of A-school. It's all on the job at that point. Corpsman with further NEC's like Xray tech, surg tech, etc. have a far wider skill set.

Here's a civilians EMT side, just wanted to say that nremt course is usually around 3-6 months, paramedic school, what you actually want to do, is an extra 12 months after you have a year of experience as an EMT-B. I personally have been burned out of the medical field after 3 years of working as an EMT in the 911 system. Pick my job on Monday hoping for 15U or 15T!! Keep up the good work I love the videos!

keep in mind, this is why it's so difficult to pick up rank as a corpsman. when you take the advancement exam, you have to know all medical areas such as dental, pharmacy etc... blue side corpsman clinic, hospital required 2 year shore duty and green side with the marines required 3 year sea duty.

So just a little added bit of information, I just radiates from corpsman A school and am currently in C school for AVT. They are changing the way they teach corpsman curriculum big time starting in July. Usually the navy and the air force will do classes together and EMT is the first part of the course. However, the navy feels like that isn't necessary so they are departing from the Air Force and getting rid of EMT. Exactly how/what curriculum is going to be taught, I have no idea. Also, they are receiving 400+ new boots come July as well. So there's going to be a lot of changes for corpsman a school

YUP! It's a myth that HM is over-staffed. I had friends who were HM and said otherwise. 2 New Recruits in my Recruiting Station got HM, and HM wasn't even their first pick! The NAVY spends alot of money making HMs. Our A school is about 5 months, WITH PAY! That's why recruiters try to deter you from becoming an HM. If you don't get HM, don't sign anything. PERIOD! If it's not available, WAIT!

I think it's sad that the Navy closed all three Hospital Corps Schools. I went to Hospital Corps "A" School (0000) in San Diego, CA. Went to Guam for a few months, but got orders to Field Medical Service School (8404) at Camp Pendelton, CA, then was soon on my way to Vietnam in Feb 1969. My 21st birthday was 04/16/69 and I was wounded the first time of three 10 May 1969.

It's similar to when 68W use to have hella additional skill identifiers "ASI" so for my mos u use to have to be 68W(combat medic) then gain an asi m6 (LPN) 68WM6. Until they just made it is own mos again 68C (LPN)
@TheMinidonkeylover7 жыл бұрын
so the navy and airfare take classes together, and the army has some classes in the same building if you aren't 68W. we still talk mad shit to the airforce and the Army and navy still don't get along, we've almost gotten in a few fights with them in the chow hall. and the navy shoulder checked out plt sgt one time and holy shit, that was bad. but we really don't get along or talk unless its talking shit or asking them about their life differences.

GreenEggsandSam when I was in, as an 8404 corpsman with the Marines, I was standing by just waiting with the Marines in the Texas desert and we would say stuff like " I'm gonna retire from this shit and join the air force. We're talking like 115 degree heat. I remember hearing after I got out I spoke to an air force vet and she was telling me she went out to the field. So I told her " what was it like for you guys". She replied " its was brutal, hardcore tuff, we had an Amol container with only one air conditioner, she had a tent with shower capabilities and a chow hall" lol

Easy........Corpsmen are tougher due to dealing with shit from an entire branch of service (the marine corps). They are better trained due to 2 schools instead of one. (Field Med and A school). Aside from that, corpsmen have more MOH recipients. Regardless, I got mad respect for my Army brethren. We're all on the same team.

We do a lot of the same stuff so I wouldn't say so. The training is difficult for both (particularly field training, FMTB for Corpsman and Whiskey Phase for Medics). A Corpsman can literally be doing nothing but filing shit at a Hospital or they can be busting ass in an infantry unit. Same goes for whiskeys, it all depends where you are.

Corpsman are trained better just because we have a separate school and we train with marines, so our PT is more challenging and we’re just as arrogant as a marine. Nicky doesn’t really know that side of things so talking to an 86W is pretty different. Not to take anything away from army medics because they’re pretty badass to but doc is a marine, a sailor, and killer.
