If you look closely they have already completed the forge and all BCT requirements and this most likely family day / last week. The day before their actual graduation This is for Espirit de Corps and motivation.

@Seth9809 it's perception. Barely picking your feet of the ground shows a type of laziness and lack of purpose. Drill is supposed to instill discipline and show how a unit can act as one. It's also a show of precision. Watch how the USMC marches and drills and you will see how they get their knees up and drive their feet down with purpose
