Hey, just watched the video, I have some questions? I leave in June as a 15T Blackhawk Mechanic. My end goal is WOFT (S2S wasn't doable in my situation) and I have some fears. Lately all I've heard and seen is how terrible Army Aviation is and to avoid it like the plague. My main concern comes from the culture of it. Part of my dream and passion of becoming a military aviator comes from getting to experience and live the military aviator culture. I looked at WOFT because I do not wish to get a degree. I know Flight School is intensive academically and I enjoyed the ground school side when I took private lessons, I just don't care much for the general education side of things college/HS wise. Any input is welcome and appreciated. Thank you!

Canadian here, always wanted to be a pilot but I'm heading off to basic on our side in a few months if everything goes according to plan. I don't know the specific age requirements on our side for what we call it ACSO it's like the guy that fly's in the back I'd like to call it the professional back seat driver, not sure what I should really do because again the age limits but glad to see you did what you thought was right, on our side everything is pretty fucked up so there's a risk of ending up on the wrong path if you choose the wrong career hope i'll be able to fly in the back seat of fighters hopefully if I do end up an ACSO part time, considering other jobs like loadmaster, infanteer or rifleman as y'all call it in the states, but you are super lucky to have a well structured armed forces with what you get to pick and how accessible it is wishing you luck on your career hope everything ends up well!

@@XCimenaticGaming much love to our Canadian brothers and sisters!! I hope you are able to get what you want. @@brundvn No sweat, G.I.! Life has a way of turning out OK in the end. I did nine years of active duty in the USAF, never got to go to UPT, but still had a lot of fun serving. And the skills I learned allowed me to climb the ladder of my childhood dream career all the way to the top. My success wasn't in spite of my enlisted service - it was because of it.

How much math do you need to know? I'm doing pretty good in school but struggle a little with algebra.
@brundvn29 күн бұрын
@CarverMenne I’m not going to lie, all you’ll ever do in aviation in terms of math is adding or subtracting and MAYBE a tiny bit of multiplication/division. And as long as you can do some “mental math” you’ll be A okay 😎

Hey man, so since you voluntarily dropped out of flight school which rank do you become? Do you remain a WO1? Or did they bump you down to E5 or something?
@brundvnАй бұрын
@@RotorSpotter_ I’m actually a commissioned dude so I keep my rank and just change my actual job in the army. The warrants either keep their rank if they opt to specialize in their original MOS (or become a boat warrant), get sent back to their original job and rank, or get booted from the military. Kinda weird how it works
@RotorSpotter_Ай бұрын
@brundvn Interesting. I thought you did WOFT at first. I'm working on a service transfer from the Marines to the Army via WOFT, so it's nice to know I'll have options if I were to not enjoy being an Army aviator. So I could potentially end up in a new field as a WO upon voluntarily leaving flight school? And would being "booted from the military" be an honorable discharge, or other than honorable? Could I still transfer branches at that point? It's cool if you don't know Also, boat warrant? Sounds like fun 😄

@@davidmiller9828 mine are actually just for filtering out blue light. I know plenty of pilots that went through and graduated as army aviators with actual glasses.
