My gut reaction was to point out bad cheeks on one of the players - but having played for almost 10 years in every condition from oppressive heat to freezing rain, if it works it works. All that matters is what comes out of the bell.

I'm originally a sax player, but for the past two years I've been picking up other instruments. I've taught myself euphonium, trombone, trumpet, and clarinet. Just last year I found these helpful videos, and have watched them all for the instruments I've been learning. I plan on being a music teacher when I'm older so I also watched the videos on French horn, percussion, and oboe. I've recommended all these videos to not only my band friends, but to the middle schoolers I help teach.They love it

Thanks for your question. It's really a personal preference. Sometimes the horn can make a bigger difference than the mouthpiece. Try some different things to see what works for you. Attend a trombone convention or state music festival so you can try different horns. Also, try doing lots of listening to players with the sound you're after. Solid aural memory of that sound can make it easier to emulate. Good luck.
@CarmenRusso111 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! When you first learn how to play the trombone, you are taught that there are 7 positions on the slide, when in fact, there are many more. There are different flat or sharp tendencies for each of those notes. The notes played here are two octaves of F. The lower F is typically all the way in and the higher F on most horns is slightly pulled out. This also goes for all of the notes in that particular harmonic series. i.e. E, Eb, D, ...etc.
