How???? kindly explain they opened the doors of Kpop globally . @mkim5344 That is why most international fans don't agree with that statement that big bang opened doors for kpop globally. And I am also one of those international people from Africa. Hence the reason why I asked you to explain how. Now you my friend as a korean who strongly believe they did, just explain to me. Perhaps use this as an opportunity to educate most of us people from other parts of the world who are not korean like you. Don't be defensive about it.....I hear go do research. You must be able to point out exactly how they did that without feeling ambushed. I mean I can explain to you now how I think BTS did it in my opinion without deflecting. However since we talking about a group you claim to know damn well how they opened doors of kpop globally , I am not wrong to ask you to educate and enlight some us then we can also start to appreciate their efforts. Please don't talk of Psy he was a one hit wonder on global stage just like many other western artists. And for sure it didn't change the way kpop was viewed globally not until BTS came on the scene. And that is a fact. And also no one is dismissing the impact of big bang music on the Korean music market within Korea and perhaps Asia.

Saying BTS doesn’t owe Bigbang anything for their success is simply not true. While Bigbang didn’t directly contribute to BTS’s rise, they played a crucial role in expanding the global reach of K-pop. Despite being only the second generation of idols, Bigbang’s influence on K-pop and the world was unparalleled. GD, in particular, introduced the first light stick for Bigbang, known as Bangbong, into their concerts. This innovation has since become a standard feature at major K-pop events. GD also wrote several chart-topping songs that propelled Bigbang to fame, including Haru Haru, Bad Boy, and Bang Bang Bang. At the time, the three major media companies, YG, JYP, and SM, favored carefully crafted songs for their idols. It was unprecedented for an idol to write and perform their own material. GD shattered this tradition and demonstrated its success. As a result of Bigbang’s success, YG finally allowed GD to release his solo album while still a member of the group. At that time, releasing a solo album was seen as a sign of group disbandment. However, Bigbang proved this wrong by continuing to perform together after each member pursued individual projects before regrouping to create even more Bigbang songs. To suggest that BTS doesn’t owe Bigbang anything is absurd. BTS is a talented group with their own achievements. However, these accomplishments were largely built upon the foundation laid by Bigbang’s work. BTS, the epitome of the ideal manufactured idol group, embodies all the criteria for success. While Bigbang undoubtedly has its quirks and flaws, they also excel in the same categories as BTS, albeit with a distinct personality. Imagine Bigbang as Lightning McQueen and BTS as Jackson Storm from Pixar’s Cars. If BTS’s choreography falters, it’s noticeable, but if Bigbang’s is off, it’s almost expected. When was the last time GD was perfectly synchronized with anyone else? TOP was notorious for his lack of commitment to choreography. Does this suggest that we hold BTS and Bigbang to different standards? Absolutely! We expect BTS to be flawless, and they consistently exceeded our expectations. That’s why BTS is so incredible! However, their success serves as a testament to the foundation laid by earlier generations, particularly Bigbang. I attribute BTS’s rise to two key factors. Firstly, while Bigbang was fulfilling their military obligations, BTS’s popularity was on the rise. Secondly, the world was recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, and without the presence of their idols, people were experiencing a form of idol withdrawal. They yearned for the next big thing to happen immediately, and they couldn’t wait for Bigbang’s return, if it ever came. This coincided with the unfortunate Seungri and Burning Suns incident, which undoubtedly caused concern and worry if Bigbang would ever come back. This contributed to BTS’s sudden rise. Despite this setback and the fact that they haven’t heard any new Bigbang songs in half a decade, Bigbang continues to exert a significant influence on the K-pop world. Bigbang’s impact was most evident during the MAMA 2024 event. GD’s “Home Sweet Home” declared to the world that they were back as a trio and Bigbang was met with widespread acclaim. Some even referred to MAMA 2024 as a mini Bigbang concert! BTS is not without its merits. Thanks to BTS, Big Hit grew to such an extent that it managed to transform the Big 3 into the Big 4 and rename itself as Hybe, which now owns several other prominent new generation idols. This alone demonstrates the profound influence that BTS has had on the K-pop industry. Future generations of idols can truly appreciate the impact that BTS has made. BTS has proven that success doesn’t necessarily require a major media company’s backing. If you’re dedicated, passionate, and able to connect with your fans, you can achieve significant success on your own merits! So, while future generations can express gratitude to BTS for providing them with options, hope, and inspiration, it’s essential for BTS and, more importantly, BTS Army to recognize, respect, and appreciate the foundation laid by Bigbang and all the other earlier generations of idols. If BTS Army genuinely considers themselves fans of BTS, then they should know that the entire BTS group are fans of Bigbang, including Suga, who once acknowledged Bigbang’s significant influence on BTS’s success. There’s a reason why Bigbang is called the idol of idols-because they truly are.

Only the new ARMY's are always in denial of this fact. But the real ones are quite mature. BTS literally used Bigbang to market themselves for like two straight years just to get noticed. So much that the public got annoyed that it was the VIPs themselves that had to defend them from the toxic knetz. They would perform street shows for free singing Bigbang songs all the time. RM even went as far as stating that their aim is to be the "Second Bigbang" on live TV.
@RavageX210 күн бұрын
@ I totally agree. The issues are rarely with the Idols themselves, but with the fan base. The fans can easily remove an idol from their group and the entire industry if do something as innocent as dating someone. Like what happened to Seunghan with RIIZE. I wonder how the new BTS army will react to the Suga DUI incident. BTS is not Bigbang, which has enough reputation to recover from three controversies (Seunri, TOP, and GD).

We all understand and know for a fact that BTS has achieved unprecedented success, and that they're now "more than just a kpop band" (which armys never forget to point out). However, if there was no kpop there wouldn't be bts to begin with. Previous generations might have not been as successful and globally known as bts are, but it is still wrong to diminish their hard work and success altogether. Boa was the first kpop idol to debut in Japan, and she also was the first non Japanese singer to top the Japanese Oricon chart, and stayed there even after other artists started branching out into Japanese market. Although YG was already known for some of their artists, Big Bang were the once that turned YG into the almighty company they are known today. Though yg wasn't on the verge of bankruptcy back then (like BigHit once was), Big Bang still had their own share of struggles. They were also the first idol group to write their own songs and music. Also BTS weren't the first group from a small company to achieve success in kpop. Shinhwa, Brown Eyed Girls, Epik High, Infinite, Kara, Girls' Day, B1A4, EXID, just to name a few, all had huge domestic success as well as success throughout Asia and to some extent in Europe and US as well. All coming from small companies. Yes, Shinhwa debuted in SM, but back then they weren't as huge as today. Nobody says BTS isn't successful or that the boys' achievements are not valuable. Other fandoms and especially long-term fans (such as myself) are just asking for some due respect for the artists that came before, for the artists who made it possible for their younger peers to get all these opportunities they have today, for the artists who were the once that inspired your biases to fight for their own dreams, for the artists who were the once who started those dreams.

They are just audiences that will listen to their new comebacks, look at their news if it happen to pop up on their feed/nortification. Or they are only reminded of the group if it appears on social media trend like tiktok, youtube shorts etc. Of course these type of fans will never understand the full background of kpop since they are so limited by their knowledge therefore because they believe in what they saw, they assume the case and argue if someone contradicts their view.

Not only is the fandom seen as toxic, immature and embarrassing. The good name of bts is brought down. The hash tag bts paved the way, is so over used that it lost its value. Now for the toxic haters thats going to take this as a personal attack. Note this is not an argument, is something that I've noticed, you are welcome to your own opinion but im not interestedin it (I've seen enough hate/toxic people). This is why I am always proud of starting my kpop fandom journey from the 2nd generation. At least I witness the progression of the industry compared to fans that started in the 2015 era onwards. I started out as VIP then proceed to being a hardcore army. Reason being that bigbang releases and content starts to get lesser in the late 2014. However Bigbang is definitely the one that build up the foundation and pave the way. I think these fans who get agitated must have started from the 3rd gen which is the generation where groups like BTS, TWICE, BP, mamamoo, gfriend, svt, nct, redvelvet were in. Which is why they were so ignorant and did not know the contribution that bigbang made in the early era. Honestly, to these fans, I guess everyone knows the term nugu ? Nowadays we always says nugu groups but little did we know that during the start of the 2nd gen era like bigbang, 2ne1, snsd, suju, Not just individual group but the whole entire industry is nugu. Maybe it wasn't really unknown to that extend but to be recognised internationally it wasn't the case. And it was these legendary 2nd gen groups that bring kpop from nothing to something. Maybe because during the mid to late 3rd gen era, kpop starts to get more popularly that is why fans are ignorant and assume that it was because of the groups in that era that contributes to it. For 3rd gen group like BTS, TWICE, BP etc. Yes definitely what we see is the hype of kpop during their era but actually what they did was to flourish the foundation that has already been established by their seniors by making this industry even more attractive and bring about more audiences. But no matter what they aren't the foundation builder. Foundation builder do not need to be as big as the one that work on it however they are still the pioneer of what becomes the system that they initiate during their times

I'm not an army but I like BTS music. I also like BIGBANG music. I think EVERY group out there is paving the way, especially the ones that are known internationally. It's a process and it's working. It's making the way into the hearts of people all over the world and that's what matters. Every single one of these groups are so freaking talented and they're amazing. They ALL work so hard and practically give up their lives to do these things for their career. It's okay to show love and support to specific groups but it's not okay to tear down other groups in the process. If you don't like them, just shut up and don't say anything at all. Mind your own business. "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all." Kindness is free.

It not an overstatement when it is mention that ARMY is full of mostly teenages girls in their 13-17 years of age. Cyberbullying is simply a thing for teenager in their youth so it is kinda expected this would be the outcome coming from ARMY fanbase. I believe 70% of the fanbase is thise typical teens meanwhile the 30% js the mature ones that really dedicated to being a respectful fan. I know i put a huge percentage because with all due respect, BTS does have a big fanbase compared to bigbang since the era of normalized internet and social media is what brought up BTS popularity and fame of the boyband pretty boy outlook which is what many young teenagers loves. Bigbang success is different from BTS success. Bigbang was in a era where internet and social media wasnt the norm and they became a big kpop group from that, BTS utilizes the modernity to become successful after kpop breakthrough with PSY and more.

I’m an American BTS fan but I’m also an adult and not ignorant. Everyone with common sense knows BigBang actually paved the way for KPop! If army, or whoever thats being so nasty towards Taeyang paid attention, they would see the respect and acknowledgement BTS members gave BigBang then and now. Jimin forever has looked up to Taeyang and Suga was star struck when meeting Taeyang. I wish these folks would stop being so opinionated on BTS’s behalf. They don’t need it!
