When he wanted to leave in summer of 2017 he was actually forced to stay because his valuation hadnt been met which is why he left in Jan when Barca started to bankrupt themselves with his signing. His assists were replaced Klopps pressing. Basically the team would team would press in a very intense and calculated manner during the oppositions buildup to suffocate the opposition into losing the ball in their own half. Thats how Phils chance creation was replaced. Then Klopp started to rely on his fullbacks to provide the creativity. Then in 2020 Thiago was signed and when he was fit Liverpool got better at creating chances through buildup. Phils creatively has loooooong been replaced my guy

Really embarrassing seeing the reaction of some on here (mostly foreign fans). We have been immense and even in this game showed yet again an unbelievable tenacity and will to win. If you can only back us when we win then by all means take yourself elsewhere. I'd actually say Newcastle are one of the only teams who really stood up to us and showed fight and passion, and despite that we should have still won except for a rare error of judgement from Kelleher. Gomez is simply not reliable in 1v1 situations, especially against a player like Gordon. That's why I fully support the decision to play Quansah there. TAA is just recovering from injury, so bringing him on in the second half made sense. My real concern is Konate's absence because trusting Gomez to deliver is a gamble that rarely pays off. Against City, Van Dijk practically had to babysit him, operating like a one-man wall. But with the number of games Van Dijk has played, fatigue is inevitable, and relying on him to do the same against Newcastle was always a risky bet. Gomez had a chance to step up, yet again, but as usual, he proved he’s prone to costly mistakes and can't be trusted in key moments.
