Gyokeres does look like the complete striker, BUT the team he plays in is set up to play in a way that helps his style of play. I'm not sure he'd do as well elsewhere unless the team setup is changed to accommodate his style. Nunez was prolific when we bought him from Benfica, scoring 32 goals in 57 games. He's scored 22 from 73 games at Liverpool (according to Wiki). It's a balancing act. Changing our whole style of play to suit a striker just might allow us to score more, but in doing so it might just make us less strong in defense.

They were willing to splash 50 mil for Zubimendi, spent 12 mil on Chiesa so there’s 38 mil left over in the budget. Surely that’s enough to get something reasonable in the Winter window. Much depends on Richard Hughes to see if he’s willing to stretch the budget a little more to get the players you listed. Also worth noting that the analytics department may have a whole different list of players than yours.

Important is the contracta of the 3 players. If Chiesa leaves, then Marmosh looks interesting. If Zubi comes, may sell Morton. If Robertson leaves, I like to see Murillo. Look around the football world and see if you can identify any player who can add value to this team now...That is why we have scouts. But the best scouts come from Brighton It also depends if we have good players coming from the youths....

Good remarks about the defender positions. For other tasks as an investment into the future, I would prefer an under 25 attacker as a potential follow-up for Salah plus a midfielder with both defendiing and attacking skills [which fits Slot's style]. Besides that I think Nunez can [and has to] improve his finishing perhaps with added individual coaching.

1. First try to identify the post which needs to be strengthened, do not just enlist interesting signings. Is this really the front where you identify problems? Mbueno will play instead of Salah? Or sitting on the bench as backup for Gyökeres? 2. Try to identify talented players for the positions, who fit the teams playing style, maybe bring stats why would you select a player. Do not make another Paris SG when Messi, Neymar, Mbappe and all the big signings were just bought without any concept. (Or United's running amok with new signings in the last years also a good example: individual over team usually does not work). 3. In January it is better to only sign those players who are needed immediately, the future team signings should be done in the summer (maybe a very good deal can be accepted). Any new signings should learn the pressing system, learn to play with the teammates - why would you burn extra cash to get someone early if not needed right now? +1 Listen yourself talking about Gyökeres - was not it the very same whjat we thought about Darwin before his arrival?

I get this but as much as I love Jota he is never fit. The guy is injured nearly 50% of the time. Nunez is learning and has a high ceiling. If Jota had a good injury record I would never be saying this.

Why swap Nunez? Jota is injured 50% of every season. I love Jota but the best ability is availability!!! Which he unfortunately is not. Jota never gets a knock it’s always about missing 5-10 games. I would not be saying this if he had Salahs injury record

Do the maths.. if Nunes needs 6 chances to score one goal and you need someone to come on for 30 minutes and score. i'd much rather have Jota. The fact that Jota's injured alot i get, but i'd actually prefer Lucho to then play striker over Nunez. We need efficiency and reliability... Being choatic is not a footballing talent or value. At least not over scoring goals.. He's had his time to shine.. I'd say Nunes got like two months to score 6 goals otherwise we rather cut the losses.
