Hi Arnel I have a question regarding passive voice 1.A letter is written by him daily. 2.A letter is written daily by him. And 3.He is praised by him for his courage. 4.He is praised for his courage by him . Which would be the right position of the adverb daily in first two sentences and the prepositional phrase 'for his courage ' in last two sentences. I have seen many books of grammar but not a single book addresses this grammar point. I also posted this question on your website three days ago but didn't get any answer yet I'll be grateful if you could explain!
@Drebor94 Жыл бұрын
I am not a native speaker, but I‘m on the verge of becoming a secondary school English teacher. So I‘ll try my best: Grammatically, the first sentence would be right in both verbalizations. Merely the focus of the sentence gets changed by it. Putting „daily“ at the end of your message emphasizes the fact that you do it everyday. The other form emphasizes the fact about who is doing something. Nevertheless, I would prefer adding everyday instead of daily. Sounds better, but that‘s only my feeling about this sentence. The other two sentences are much easier to categorize: „He is praised for his courage by him“ is correct, the other verbalization is not. „Praised for“ should not get separated, because it clearly explains for what you are being praised for.
@vovanmilos3233 Жыл бұрын
If I understood correctly, many of these verbs are just more informal synonyms of usual verbs. I noticed that in this aspect we don't have phrasal verbs but we do have many verbs and often many meanings of same verb. Here's some Russian equivalents of these verbs (I'll enhance this list later): freak out (scare) = пугать wake up = проснуться get up = встать (с постели) turn on/off = включить/выключить (прибор) stress out (irritate) = раздражать come up with = придумать bring up (discuss) = обсуждать/поднимать (тему) stand out = выделяться (из толпы) look up (search) = искать figure out = выяснить

Interesting 😊 There were two options for "hang out" One which was related to hang out the close in the closet And the other was to hang out with people or somewhere . For the second one, another phrasel verb popped up in my head " Hang around "
