Love the way these guys can say more with just a few, perfectly chosen notes in each phrase than most modern players can say with about 50.

I appreciate and acknowledge our great, great, great, grand parents for motivating this group of giants to play with such virtuosity, despite the fact they had enter through the back door to entertain, yet still dedicated this song from where it all begin to the women in their lives. "She got it."

These guys were fantastic. There will never be another like them. I saw Buddy, Arnett and Illinois Jacquet together at Sandy's Jazz Revival in Beverly MA. Unbelievable all the talent in that room!

Saw these 'Tenor Sax Battles' many times in the '80s at the North Sea Festival - they seemed to be appreciated more on the continent.

Well the old chaps talk less but play more. Exciting to watch the masters in their craft. Creativity ,experiance and skill are all put in notes to do the talking. Yes jazz was once the main and centre of entertainment for all but it has taken a back seat with software replacing the real thing.What a shame.

Byron Sigrano I'm pretty sure that's a super balanced action Arnette is playing. Buffy is definitely on a Martin. As you can see from the tenor battle, they all preferred metal Links! Haha
@Dueruemtarget7 жыл бұрын
Michael Blake Buddy Don‘t play a Martin, it‘s a Conn 30M. Typical features are underslung octave mechanism and the „Conn“ strut under the neck. Arnett played a Selmer, yes, but that was in the 50s and 60s. He changed to Yamaha, you can see it by the Logo on the neck octave key. Selmer saxophones has the big „S“ since the Mark VI, the Yamaha logo on the neck is much smaller.
