Arno's Waltz is an orchestral waltz I composed dedicated to Arno Dorian - the protagonist in Assassin's Creed: Unity. There are a number of easter eggs and parallelisms involving leitmotifs hidden in the piece. Can you find them?
Made with Logic Pro X and VST libraries from East West, Spitfire, and Kontakt.

Ironically, this was made in honor of the protagonist of assassin's creed unity : Arno Victor Dorian. But if its about him or not. That I do not know

I love this piece very much. In fact, no other piece has ever made me feel like this one did. It tells a story, what kind of story you ask? Well, let me explain it for you. I know this piece was inspired by Arno from AC Unity HOWEVER, I disagree that its about him. My interpretation of this piece is that it actually tells the story of a broken hero that turned to being a villain, facing the next hero only to realise his wrongdoings through him and standing by his side to fight against the real evil. This piece demonstrates the internal conflict that the villain is being exposed to as he fights the hero. I divided this piece into three main themes, the hero theme and the villain theme (mind you, this applies to the hero side of the villain and the evil side of the villain) as well as the internal conflict theme The villain melody starts off semi aggressive before being interrupted by the hero theme starting at 0:10 and then again being cut off by the villain theme. To me, this represents that the good inside him is desperately trying to reach his heart and make him see what he is doing is wrong when being faced with the new hero but his evil side which was created most likely as a self defence mechanism is constantly trying to silence it in order to protect him. Then at 0:24 the internal conflict starts, the hero theme turns into a kind of spinning and whirling melody which to me represents the good and evil fighting inside of the villain, throughout this internal conflict theme we can still hear the villain theme, its almost as if its working against the evolved hero melody, the evil in him desperately trying to stay alive. Eventually, the internal conflict is stopped at 0:38, we can notice a change in the villain theme, this time around instead of being semi-aggressive it becomes VERY AGGRESSIVE, its as if the evil inside him is feeling threatened and starting to get even louder in order to block the hero theme from getting through to the villain. Eventually the hero theme tries once again to resume at 0:46 but the strings sound like they are being chocked out, the villain theme obviously overwhelming it. The standard melody from the first time the hero theme was introduced is trying to play out but to no avail, it gets cut off not long before starting. To me, this implies that the good inside him is once again trying to get a few words in but the evil is constantly trying to silence it once again, this time doing a much better job than the first time. At 1:04 the internal conflict theme starts up once again BUT this time the battle is even more fierce, the villain theme being very aggressive but the evolved hero melody is holding its own once again. To me this symbolises that the evil inside the villain is desperately fighting for survival screaming things out like "Please just shut it up!! (1:08)" and "Shut it up!!! (1:13)". At 1:18 however, we see something quite peculiar. The melody dies down to a somber and positive tune. To me, this part symbolises the fact that after two internal conflicts the villain is questioning his actions for the first time. Was he wrong to do the things he did? Was he truly evil for wanting to wrong the world the same way it had that wronged him? Looking at the hero he saw his past self inside of him, he started to remember what he was like back then, all the reasons he had for becoming a hero as well as all the circumstances that have made him a villain he is now. Through this process of questioning oneself he has come to a single conclusion. He was wrong when he was a hero and he is still wrong now. Being a hero for the sake of being a hero means nothing, as well as being an evildoer for the sake of revenge or any other negative emotions. Only once a man realises that he needs both the dark and the light, the good and the evil can he truly become powerful, as well as good. Being a ruthless warrior with no mercy and yet gentle enough to pick a flower without damaging it too much. Being a monster, but being able to control it. This part symbolises something that this villain has not had in a very long time, INTERNAL PEACE. At 1:58 we see a buildup in the melody before the drop. It describes the villain finally coming to a conclusion about what he should do. At 2:12 we are met with the villain theme but this time it sounds different, it sounds STRONG instead of AGGRESSIVE with a more positive tone rather than a sinister one. I like how it starts out kind of slow before picking up speed because it kind of sounds like the villains heart started to truly beat once again, perhaps in a long long time. At 2:27 the hero theme introduces itself once again but instead of fighting with the villain theme they both work in harmony. This implies that the villain has finally heard what the good in him is telling him, this time, as a full person, having control of both the evil and the good in him decided to stand with the new hero and fight against the real evil. at 2:30 the conflict theme starts again but this time it isnt an internal conflict, rather, its a conflict between the now redeemed villain and the REAL VILLAIN, both the villain and evolved hero theme working together in harmony to fight. The piece then comes to an abrupt stop which to me symbolises that while the villain was redeemed it was only when the piece ended that he was TRULY REDEEMED. The redeemed villain pays the ultimate price for his sins by dying while helping the hero win against evil once and for all.

You're truly a genius, you're interpretetion of the villain really got me in a felling that no book ever gave me. The way you described the fight between the hero and the villain's side is really beautiful yet so emotional. It's really touching the way that he realises his wrong doings, and sides with his hero side to help him. I'd like to read a book where the villain would be like yours, with a backstory that begin emotional with him wanting to be a hero but breaking and losing himself in the process and turning in a villain, only to realises his wrong doing and ending helping his hero side.

Impressive. Common fantasy trope, to be fair, but still quite well paired with the music. Take my thumbs.

This is less of a waltz and sounds more like something you'd hear during a movie scene where the characters fight in a burning building as everything crumbles around them, it sounds straight up fire, still awesome tho :).

it is a waltz, and a very good one at that, (at least in my opinion). it had all of the elements of a waltz as far as i know. yes, it is very dramatic, but that doesnt really change anything. waltzes can be dramatic too.

Everytime I hear music, my mind creates a story. This one, inspired me to animate a scene, sadly, i wont.. yet. I have a story about Three Princes, and this is the PERFECT music for ‘His Betrayal’ haha I enjoyed the music, and i cant wait to animate something! Atleast animate one thing, I guess. I have multiple music that inspires and creates an idea in my head (music that was supposed to make me focus! Haha xd) I don’t know what career im supposed to pick, but maybe I’ll try arts and writing And music of course! You inspire me! Then again, im just a 13 year old.
