Thanks Vanda, I learned a lot on this walk about the history. I have another one coming up very soon with a few churches featured. Just came back from Noah Dale hike today passing some old abandoned farm houses) and one called Raistrick Greave in Heptonstall Moor and that should be up in a week or two hopefully.

Certainly a lot of history there, interesting in how you say Sowerby, we were promptly told it’s Soorbe when we arrived up here lol we also were corrected on Southowram, & Todmorden

Cheers Lezley, Yes I rarely pronounce these places as the locals do even though I have the Yorkshire accent myself ( or some version of it). I prefer the pronunciation of Todmorden with the 'r', but I think it's supposed to be TodMudden. For Southowram, I'll practice the phrase South are umm. lol

Hi Vanda, Yes those cows! lol When one starts following, then all the others come along. Cows are normally kind of safe and they didn't used to bother me until on one walk I had a herd of them running beside me and it was very scary and I had to carry on walking at the side of them to get out of the field again. So now I only cross a cow field if they look too busy just eating grass and don't notice me. If they start coming towards me I usually go back and find another path or another way around (even if it's much longer).

@@vandalmeida.30.09 Thanks Vanda, you're too kind to me 😊. It's a bit cold and wet here in the UK at the moment and the daylight is very short. I have a couple of ideas for a walk or two when things improve. Meanwhile I've been watching the other youtubers walking and hiking.👍

@@nickgcbond It is my pleasure watching your jobs... there is one web called Thetaxidriver, I used to watch him, don't know if he is still around. He was good, also he has a very different accent... Bless you and enjoy the Sunday 🥂🎄🇧🇷

@@vandalmeida.30.09 Yes, The taxidriver! I've watched many of his videos too. I would have also liked to see him appear sometime on the camera though, but still a nice chap and a pleasure to watch his walks and listen to his voice.

Hi Nick. It's pronounced 'Sorby' 👍

Cheers, I'll try saying 'Sorby' on a future visit. lol I think I may have done 3 different pronunciations for 'Todmorden' on the various visits to the area and maybe got one right! 😎

Have you ventured up Crow Hill?
@nickgcbond5 жыл бұрын
I can think of a Crow Hill in Marsden? If so, Yes, many years ago and also tried a revisit recently and took a wrong turn in that area, so I missed the actual route around Crow Hill looking over Marsden as I remembered it. lol I'd been walking with a friend, so didn't do any filming. I usually have my routes carefully mapped out but tend to be a bit careless sometimes and stray off. However it's often proved to be a great way to discover one's way around a place and even make discoveries.If it's a different Crow Hill you have in mind, then please let me know. Cheers.

@@nickgcbond Did a great walk from Sowerby via Crow Hill, Cragg Vale, Stoodley, Lambutts then onto Walsden :-)

I understand the thrill of it all. Much to discover. It's also great to go back to familiar places and discover new footpaths/alternate routes, sometimes looking for footpaths missed or that couldn't be found on a prior walk. Passing through Walsden is another on the 'to do' for me. I've been close by via Warland.
