Around the Hebrides - Sailing Mull, Skye, and the Outer Hebrides

Sailing Scotland’s West coast onboard our good old Dufour 35 from 1974. We left our home port of Paimpol (France) on July 2021 to explore the Inner and Outer Hebrides for about two months and a half. It took us roughly six days to make it to Scotland via the English Channel, St George’s Channel, the Irish Sea, and the North Channel, and same on the way back. We stopped at 46 different anchorages, did not use any port or marina, and barely used the engine, which made the trip more interesting and significantly cheaper. Western Scotland is a sailor’s paradise, and I hope this short film can inspire you to set sail to this beautiful part of the world!

Navigation estivale dans l’ouest de l’Écosse à bord de notre bon vieux Dufour 35 de 1974. Nous avons quitté notre port d'attache de Paimpol (Bretagne) en juillet 2021 pour explorer les Hébrides intérieures et extérieures pendant environ deux mois et demi. Il nous a fallu près de six jours pour rejoindre l’Écosse via la Manche, le canal Saint-Georges, la mer d'Irlande et le canal du Nord, à l'aller comme au retour. Nous avons visité 46 mouillages différents, n'avons utilisé aucun port ou marina et n'avons presque jamais utilisé le moteur, ce qui a rendu ce voyage plus intéressant et nettement moins cher que prévu. L’ouest de l’Écosse est un paradis pour les marins et j'espère que cette petite vidéo vous donnera envie de naviguer dans ces coins magnifiques et pas si inaccessibles !

Nothing my late father loved more than sailing on the west coast. Lovely video and also good choice of some of the late Martin Bennet’s music. It’s refreshing to watch some great filming where the music isn’t just a cheap afterthought.

An excellent video with good production quality and amazing drone footage. I have a friend in Norway who will be sailing to the Hebrides soon and he's likely to post a video to his KZbin channel, so I wanted to get a preview of where he's going and found your video. Will be sure to subscribe. I live and sail in Southeast Alaska, a land of fjords and glaciers, and a temperate rain forest. We frequently see humpback whales, seals, sea lions, Orca, eagles, brown and black bears here and the access to the Pacific ocean along the 'Inside Passage' affords some world class water access and wildlife viewing. I've been racing and crewing on sailboats here for 30 years but the winds here are difficult to predict at times, making for a good amount of sail changes. I like the format of this video, where there's no narration, which allows the scenery and the music to speak for themselves. I too have a KZbin channel and when I shoot video and post it, most of them are just a combination of good video shots and compelling music. Keep up the good work promoting the sailing hobby and lifestyle!

Mince alors, je re-visionne en arrière vos vidéos et celle-ci franchement, elle décoiffe encore plus ! C'est beau, magnifiquement beau ! C'est simple, sans fioritures et pourtant les images donnent le vertige. La musique est immense et prends les tripes, le montage est "léché" aux petits oignons ! C'est aventureux sur un parcours très osé même si en plein été, une mer réputée pas tendre du tout, des terres pas toujours hospitalières, mais si magnifiquement filmé avec une tendresse particulière, j'en ai des frisons.
