I had a question recently that this broken KZbin is refusing to post for all to see. The question was on the torque specs for these bolts. ARP bolts can be torqued much higher than stock, but in this case ARP recommends the stock specs because higher torque could damage the starter. So keep it at 35 ft/lbs.

I still have 3 sets of Original GM 6.2L Starter bolts None are broken but, While I am finishing up my 82 Red Block 6.2L Should I invest in ARP Starter bolts when I put it on??

I would just use them. Starter bolts are easy enough to get to so you can go with the ARP when it's time to change them again.

I'm afraid that I've been lucky enough to never have broken a bolt so far. Unfortunately, that means I don't have any great advice on the matter. You'll likely have a good chance at finding an answer if you post your question on www.thetruckstop.us/forum/ but it's like any other bolt and usually a pain! If there is any part of the bolt sticking out, a good stud extractor may get it out. if not, drilling may be your only option. Good luck!

Old post but..... I ran an auto repair shop for years and dealt with broken exhaust studs in aluminum heads. Mig welding nuts to the tops of the broken studs would remove 80%. The surface has to be shiny clean of course....... ground, not wire brush etc. Remove with an impact wrench..... which is how a lot of things get broken. People working with hand tools. An impact wrench will spin things out, where armstrong will snap it off. Anyways, sometimes it takes multiple tries welding a nut on to remove the broken bolt / stud. It's the heat as much as the torque that gets it out. I've extracted studs that were broken off well below the surface using this method. I've only had to drill out a couple.

It's been so long, I had to follow the link that is right there in the description to get the part number from the Amazon listing. It's 430-3511.
