I was thinking something similar about the container that was counted as having 5 sides rather than 2...or 10...or 1. It has an inside and an outside, it has 5 outer faces and 5 inner faces (10 sides)... or as you said... one all over.

A lot of people have said they should have done a similar thing in the 'travel blindfolded and make your way back' task in series 5, 'wearing' the blindfold on their wrist or something, but I suppose neither of those seasons had anyone who would actually do that, i.e. Rhod Gilbert, Hugh Dennis

It was probably because it’s instinct to use your hands to grab things. So they put their hands behind their back so they don’t accidentally go to grab something. Also, if they have their hands out grabbing the table there’s a chance you might accidentally touch an object that was near the edge.

As some have pointed out, the rules didn't state you had to *keep* the goggles on, but ALSO the rules stated you could only ARRANGE the objects with your face. Nothing said you couldn't TOUCH the objects to identify them. So that's 2 ways around.

My first thought during this task is whether an egg has 1 side. 2 sides(inside and outside) or infinite cause of the circular nature of it, same with the cheese wheel, and if it's infinite then the cheese wheel has infinite + 2 and the egg has infinite in 2 dimensions making its sides infinite squared, which is more, infinity + 2 or infinity squared? And then whether the square cup had 6 sides or 11 cause of the inside Why were people concerned about the banana and not the egg. Why was that not an argument during this task, mathematicians have lived and died debating whether a circle has 1 side or infinite. Before even starting this task I'd have been asking Alex whether the task letter I was reading off had 2 sides or 6, just to get my bearings with which reality I was living in.

If you count those as sides, you've got down to a scale where the irregularities in the paper are no longer negligible. Which means you've either got to consider that under a certain size something is not a side, or you've got to consider that all those objects have a number of sides that is impossible to estimate with your face.

It is still a 3-d object Banana, 5 sides the segments (cuz its a citrus) the stem and flower Pyramid, 4 sides self explanatory 5 sides for the rectangular cube because an open face of a box does not count as a side nor can liquid have a side. Why would the inside-side of a closed egg count but not the inside faces of an open box? I would say the box has 10, 5 sides outside and matching sides inside, especially since they're exposed. Also why not inside the banana like the egg? It seems like they also realized this was a mess during the show, and kind of just identified the objects instead. In addition to letting them use their mouths and tongues vs faces. Because if someone asked if they could touch your face I don't think you would expect them to stick their finger in your mouth.
