Best tutorial on creating a chord melody that I have ever watched or read (I'm experienced guitarist). His explanation on Key choice was extremely helpful. I have created chord melodies but Emil has a very methodical, logical, and beautiful way to arrange chord melody for Summertime as a swing tune. Much faster arrangement than I can create with trial and error. Plus, Emil respects his time and ours (audience), he appears to have edited out the non-instructional information. He doesn't waste time looking at himself in the camera or talking endlessly. Emils sets a new level of excellence on guitar tutorials. 5 Stars. This is great. Many thanks & best of luck.

Cannot believe I missed this a year ago. Fab. This is how I learned to play guitar. Getting tog with a friend who knew a song I wanted to play and then watching and learning. No tabs, no sheet music, just eyes, ears and fingers (and memorising the changes). I love your style especially when you launch into those wonderful solos, but am mystified by modes, scales, arpeggios and how you dance from one to another. A baby steps lesson would be great based say on this song and expanding on your ideas mentioned in the vid about sticking to the pentatonic scale with a few incursions elsewhere. Thanks

Alright, it took me quite a while, but now I can play it. YEAY! In hindsight, I think the struggle was quite important for the learning process. I do have to say, all your explanations and being part of the “journey” of how the arrangement finally comes to live, helped me learn a whole lot about chords and also orientation on the fretboard. I surely won’t forget this song so easily. Puh 😅

Would it be ok if I shared your comment on our website, and if so - could you send me a picture (If you have) so that I can have your picture next to your comment on the website? (emil@proguitar.com) If you don’t want me to post this on the website, is absolutely no problem! I just thought I’d ask since it was such a nice message that you wrote! 😄 have a wonderful day! WoW !! You've made learning this song FUN ! I'll have to come back to this teaching again and again to get it right, but that's o.k. I've always wanted to learn a jazzy swing tune. Tempo is really important here. I'll break it down into sections so I don't get frustrated and give up. I don't have to be perfect. Those fillers are pretty. I learned a lot from your lesson. Thanks for going over things so many times, calling out the chords, melodies, and finding even better ways to light up the song. I've been playing this tune recently in Am, but it's not nearly as beautiful as your version. I really like your style. I'll pass the word around !
