How did I not see these character parallels before?! Kendall/Michael as the second eldest son with the world on his shoulders, Shiv/Lindsay and her feckless husband Tom/Tobias, the loveable but hapless youngest son Roman/Buster, Conner/GOB as the flamboyant eldest child who insists on forging his own career but desperately wants to be included in the company, Logan/George always playing his children off one another with promises never fulfilled, hippie uncle Ewan/Oscar who disagrees philosophically but still profits from the empire, and Greg/George Michael as the young man stepping into the world trying to find his identity while being pulled in every direction… Succession just doesn’t have quite as crazy a mother figure as Lucille or a Maeby counterpart for Greg

I mean the mother in succession is actually quite similar to Lucille Bluth minus the crazy, particularly in how cold and uncaring they both are to their children, you just don’t notice it because Lucille is part of the main cast whereas the mother in succession is only an occasional side character.
