Great overview Patrick! However, I’ve never run into the issue you were talking about with having to reboot the mini to plug in the EVF. I’ve always been able to plug and go. While yeah, it takes a second for the EVF to boot, I haven’t had to shut down the camera, plug the EVF in, and reboot from there.
@wanderingdp5 жыл бұрын
maybe i was doing it wrong all along. i wouldn't put it past me
@jabba3595 жыл бұрын
I came here to say the same. I hot plug all the time (I work a lot of Mini on Mōvi Pro jobs) and have never had an issue. The EVF does take a few seconds to turn on, but it always works.
@shanepikelin5 жыл бұрын
Same here haha. Never ever rebooted the camera plugging in the evf. Never heard anyone doing that!
@keidrychwasley32795 жыл бұрын
@@wanderingdp never had a problem with this either. Also, you can press function 3 to playback so you don't need the evf for that at all anyway!
@thefloufighters5 жыл бұрын
You have enough shortcut’s on the body to adjust basic camera controls (EI, WB, SA, ND, basic playback, format card + programable user buttons) without the EVF, Web remote, third partie apps with the CAP of the camera or trough any WLCS (WCU4 or CPro). Just simply hold FN + UB1 for exposure en WB controls. FN + UB2 to format the card, press UB3 two times to execute. FN + UB3 for playback use UB 1, 2 & 3 as transport controls. 😉

The early (and maybe current?) medium format digital stills cameras had stuck together sensors. It was great; you used to get a pic that was purple on one side and green on the other. You then had a file for your camera (only) that you applied in post to sort it out.

Finally something regarding the mini LF.....thank you. Good to hear good things about it.....mine is reaching next week. Tho I have a question.....does the S35 mode work now on your mini LF or we will have to wait for it ? And regarding playback with the mini try looking into smallhd cine 7.....it’s awesome & worth it.

Err wait, the original mini didn't need to be rebooted to attach the EVF, it was always hot swappable. I've done it several times on gimble setups. The one up side is the new lemo connector for the new EVF is infinitely better placed and designed than the original and that does actually help

I'm not going to be able to call it anything other than Milf now and that's going to confuse the shit out of the ppl that know me. Also, I'm pretty sure Arri's going to hate you for this now Pat because it's going to stick. haha!

The media placement was by far the biggest fix. that was the one thing that i found myself cursing at on every single shoot. It cost so much time so many times, specially on hand held work where my AC couldnt just take the 10m seconds to reload while i held the camera, no...had to hand its over, set it down blah blah blah, now its 4minutes and now everyone has walked away, Starbucks orders are being placed, director went to take a piss. “You can only get this look on the LF.” That’s just plain wrong. There is a one stop difference between the LF and regular Alexa in terms of maximum shallow dof. There’re very few lenses that are fast enough to create a shallower DoF than the Master Primes on super 35 @ T1.3. Even Arri’s own Signature Primes have the exact same amount of shallow DoF wide open. But they let in a stop less light, which means you’re gonna need to raise the ASA, which is fine noise wise because of the larger sensor, but your dynamic range won’t be as good for low light as it is on the regular Alexa with a lower ASA. And that’s just regarding the supposed full frame look, that’s not talking about what you do to your storytelling when having every shot hell’a blurry in the background.
