This movie is amazing, its less about sci-fi and more about learning a new language and seeing a far different perspective.

First, I love your videos. Louise was living past, present and future simultaneously. She had memories of the future as if she had already lived. Note that the flashes she had of the future, she only communicated with people who understood the heptapod language. Therefore, she saw herself in the future talking to the president of China, because possibly he was learning the language of the heptapods and had flashes of the future with Louise as well. Her husband didn't appear in her memories because maybe he didn't want to learn that language in the beginning.

This movie blew my mind at the cinema. Being universes apart reminded me of Contact. Two of my fav movies along with Interstellar ❤

Do a people have a concept of the color blue if they don't have a name for it? Is the color rose just pink if you didn't have a name for that shade? Do the concepts of good, evil, cowardice or bravery have any meaning if they're not defined. The concept of language and thought is a very interesting one. Great video! 🎉 I hope the family is doing well.

These are really fun questions, the answer is both yes and no. Different communities develops differently, there's are certain languages that works on different ways than ours, there's one in Brazil (love my country) who lacks a term for specifically the color "blue", but instead has words for dark or light, and then describes a color with comparisons to similar colored stuff. If you try to explain for a naturally blind person, for instance, that red is a "hot" color, and blue is a "cold" one, it won't make any sense because they have never associated these concepts together as we did. But as the Daniel Dennett's philosophy proposes, if an language is advanced enough, with millions of words used in an specific way, you could explain the concepts and describe in such a way the blind person would feel or see the color. And this is exactly what the movies depicts, the alien where so advanced and had such an specific and complex language that allowed the protagonist to see or feel time differently.

You should do an explainer about Amazon series Night Sky :D. Unfortunately, it got cancelled but still a really good show with some interesting sci-fi twists and good actors.

the movie is terribly amoral. the main character sacrifices his daughter for her egoistic feelings. add to this the stupid time travel paradox. the both are signs of narrow-mindedness of its creators. as the result wrong understanding of determinism.
