i could see this being played on a whole new form of a warthog run, instead of it being all action and a race to a finish, its a fight for your life as halfway through maybe youd have to finish the rest on foot while being bombarded with flood and sentinels, a sort of nod of halo CE mixed in with a last stand that makes you truly wonder, "Are we gonna make it?"

Hey guys, for anyone wondering why there weren’t a ton of changes to the arrangement, this song is actually pretty close to the sound of the classic Halo soundtracks already. The strings are leading the charge, with pounding war drums and large strings/brass sections in the background. I just figured a few minor alterations would bring it even closer to Marty and Michaels style of composition :) I hope you guys enjoy, feel free to let me know what you think in the comments :)

I can't exactly lay my finger on precisely what it was you did. but I tell you you turned an already good track from Halo 4 that just didn't have the distinct Halo style in it, and made it sound like it could have fit right into the original trilogy. Hats off to 'ya, keep up the good work!

I would’ve done this arrangement much differently if I was doing it today, but I think the greater emphasis on piano and choirs are all this song needs to fit the sound of the original trilogy (I personally think Arrival is pretty close to the original Halo sound, just needs some tweaks in instrumentation). I can’t decide on what part of the game this would go with. There’s so many to choose from, either making your way through the desert fighting the scarab then moving into the giant forerunner structure on The Ark or making your way to truth with the arbiter and the flood on The Covenant. Just imagine, you're playing Halo 3 - The Covenant mission, you're with the Scorpion destroying every enemy vehicle in your way to the Citadel, 2 Hornets arrive, then the 2 Scarabs land, One Final Effort starts playing, you destroy the first Scarab, Miranda orders to focus fire on the second Scarab and this soundtrack starts playing... That's a great question--I had to think about this one for a while lol :P the part where I think it would fit best tonally would be fighting your way to Truth during the final mission. I always saw Arrival as a very melancholic piece, it's upbeat, but it always had this solemn atmosphere around it, which I always figured was the dual emotions of Chief fighting the Didact and losing Cortana at the same time. So I think it would have to play during a scenario that has a sense of action, as well as a small tinge of sadness, which is why I think "Halo" would be the best fit for it. That's the best answer I could come up with off the top of my head lol :P

The track does not suit what the original trilogy meant, because you cannot compare Halo 1, 2 or 3 to Halo 4. That's not bad thing. I agree. Honestly in retrospect it was the smart choice to make. Marty and Michael’s musical landscape for the original trilogy was extremely unique and it was the safe choice to not imitate it and pursue an original sound. I do love Halo 4’s soundtrack too. It may not sound exactly like Halo 1-3 but it’s beautiful in its own right

soo just a worse version of arrival? context: i am not at all bashing this rendition that you made and spent time on. its super awesome and i see the intention behind it. in my opinion, simply palette swapping the instrumentation isn't enough to make it sound more like legacy halo. It's missing key elements like more overarching melodic passages, frequent leit motifs (like the halo 3 piano queue, or simply the halo chant). here the intention muddies the beauty of the piece due to the palette swap. making it primarily strings leads to the tone being flat and empty, despite the intention aiming for the opposite. the difference with legacy halo is martin's superb composition skills carefully placing instrumentation where its needed. there were a few chord changes you made that i don't agree with as well, but of course all this is just opinion. i see a lot of people here like this one even more which is great to see, it is more akin to the grand and lush strings orchestration of halo 3. but as a final thought, i believe a track like this cannot be made to sound marty-esque, because it is far too different and unique i comparison. it focuses mainly on a repetitive progression with dynamic mood changes and triumphant melody. for these reasons, neil has created an instrumentation that complements this very well, incorporating not just strings but brass, bells, and heavy percussion Edit: I heard your alt mix, definitely an improvement! the increased piano and bells gives it a more legacy touch
