Arrival of the Queen of Sheba

Handel composed The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba for Act III of his oratorio Solomon, which premiered in 1749. He scored the work for two oboes and strings. Some 260 years later, Lucy Pankhurst arranged the work for British Brass Band, a transformation that is oddly in keeping with Pankhurst's reputation as "a compositional chameleon." The Rockville Brass Band opened its Fall 2023 concert with this performance.
