Just an update for your viewers regarding the bridge works just outside Glencoe village are complete. The old A82 bridge has been replaced and the temporary bridge you went over has been removed. Bob, you mentioned the arched white bridge at Tulla appearing narrow (as does the one at the other end of Rannoch by the Kingshouse), but not as narrow as they look. I know you and Jenny, plus other experienced motorhomers, are aware but some people, particularly those hiring a motorhome for a trip, may not be and you cannot get a large motorhome through when an artic is going through. However, the three bridges (heading towards Glencoe from Bridge of Orchy) on the A82 that are narrower and these are the two by the Glencoe ski centre entrance (one before and one just after) and the one on the left hander heading down towards the Kingshouse junction. Larger vehicles have to cross the centre line of the road on these and by the end of the main season you can find a lot of smashed door mirrors lying by the roadside. I drive this section of the A82 regularly and want people to keep safe.

Been through Glencoe literally hundreds of times in my life and I don't think I've seen it looking the same twice, absolutely love it! We were up that way on our way to the Outer Hebrides three weeks ago and were shocked by the deep potholes in virtually every lay-bye going up the A82, drive into them too fast at your peril. Have a great trip

Yes Bob, I could believe it. I was standing outside the Green Welly Stop at Tyndrum and one of these logging trucks came into the car park. You could hear the tyres destroying the gravel as it slowly passed us

Hi Bob and Jenny, I came across your channel, when we got our first motorhome 8 months ago. After taking inspiration from your videos, we had our first trip to the west highlands in April, and it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. Can't wait to see your stay on Uist, and following the rest of your trip x

Watching this arriving at, having just arrived at the same site right now! I went exactly this way but without the bit that passes the pub. My plan was to stop at the Loch Tulla Viewpoint but there is now a sign saying "no motorhomes between 7am and 7pm", so motorhomers are now not allowed to look at views - heaven forbid!! I therefore parked at the Loch Ba viewpoint parking area a little further along to waste a bit of time before I could book in. This is a great scenic spot!

Hi.. on your video time, at 12.50 I had a 2 week old caravan on the back of my 2 week old Ford Granarda scoripo and I was indicating to turn right and used the center lane to filter, the road was clear so started to turn and a motorbike was over taking us all on the right hand side and as I got over the caravan was still in the road and the motor bike went straight throw the one side and out the other. they estimated he was doing over 100mph to do that much damage. YES spoiled our holiday.. I do watch most of your video's but never comment, but this just brought back memories.. Cheers

Raining in Scotland! I canny believe it!!!! I know that area well. Buachaille Etive Mòr is one of my favourite mountains. Really enjoying following your trip around the West Highlands. You may already know this but try the Avon moisturiser for midges and mosquitos It really works! Its called ‘skin so soft’

Bob. Love the videos. They’ve been invaluable to newbies like us. However one thing we always look for in a site is a nearby pub and shop. I know you and Jenny like the occasional drink, so how about a bit of local information around the site. How far to walk to “civilisation” etc. Heck you could even review the beer 😋. I know some of your videos do show the occasional wander into a hostelry but a bit more detail about the locality of sites would be good.
@BobEarnshawMoHo5 жыл бұрын
Lol. This trip we've been staying away from the pubs, saving our money until we meet up with our friends!

Very much enjoyed the video but here's a quick question. I was in Glencoe in 1970 and I only remember a very narrow road. Is that the road you turned onto at around 11 minutes into the video. I also remember walking onto an old Roman road along the way. Also remember a youth hostel and an old pub which I believe closed around supper time which seemed awfully inconvenient to us Canucks. Anyways really enjoyed your video. Hoping to spend time in GB in the spring of next years. Cheers.
@BobEarnshawMoHo5 жыл бұрын
In 1970 a lot of the roads were like the one I turned into. The main road is much wider and both way. A lot of the original roads are still there.

What is helpful against midgies are the following: Avon Skin so soft as this has insect repellent in it (dark green bottle), Always good to wear a hat. Perfume etc tends to attract midges, so they're out of the equation. Take garlic tablets or capsules according to the dosage on the packet just before you go to bed but do not bite but just swallow the garlic down, I have used the capsules and you can't taste the garlic. You can use Smidge as well. It is advisable to have antiseptic cream incase you are stung. I hope you find this helpful.

I found Smidge very useful.

We are really enjoying your Scotland tour, than you. Faye has again commented favourably on you managing to duck showing her the urinals!! (it must be a girl thing as it doesn't bother me). Like yourselves we are also RVing vegetarians and find that in small Australian and outback country towns pubs and cafes don't cater at all for us vegos. I haven't heard you comment on this aspect of your touring... do British pubs and cafes in small towns cater for vegetarians or do you often have to give it a miss? Downunda - Jayco Class C owners, Melbourne Australia

Most pubs and cafes now cater for vegetarians in the UK and there's a growing vegan trend too.
