Field Day 2024 is a joke. ARRL says "it's one-part contest, one-part emergency communications exercise, and one-part open house" Once again the rules have dumbed down the hobby /sport so you might as well have the CB'ers join us. Again this year you can just stay home and operate plus your points can be added to your club. And for the CW guys, you get ONE point per contact and FT8 operating their PC settings to automatic get TWO points per contact, no actual operating required. Why would any club put out all the effort to setup outside rain or shine, antennas, generators, tents, whatever, all while some guy is in his basement having pizza with a cold beer watching all the FT8 contacts his PC is making by itself. Field Day has nothing to do with ECOM or being prepared or sharpening you actual operating skills. ARRL has failed us. For years they knew their Log-Book-World system was running on 20 yr old technology, and now they act surprised they got hacked, and your credit card info IS attached to your account.
