Thomas, thank you sir for this vid. I was able to follow it to do maintenance on my Kraton's center diff, take it apart, clean it up, add oil, and put back together. I had already bought the TD planetary gear shims. I didn't know about the 2 extra washers though. Got them on order. Please keep up the how to videos, step by step for us noobs learning to wrench. Every time you have to fix, add, repair, maintain, just record for it us!!! LOL! Much appreciated.

Hey Thomas. There is a thread on the ARRMA Kraton forums with some confusion about that little shim/spacer you put on right at the very end of this video. I thought it was a bearing shield or something but I only saw one when servicing all 3 of my diffs. Have you noticed that it is installed by ARRMA on every diff? Do you recommend it on every diff? I do not see it in the manual and there is no part number for it. Thank you sir.

I realize this video is from 2016 but I'm working on my nephew's kraton and I shim the diff the exact same way you show here ..but it binds up..not smooth I had to take all the shims out except one shim behind the one planetary gear. Do I not need all the shims for a new gear set ? Because that's what I'm working with..

Maybe Thomas will answer as I'm also interested in if it works for their new diffs on a v4 kraton.

yeah , my center diff outdrives on my senton are very very sloppy......i think its because there is no washer behind larger planet gears (like you add)......i have been using a mugen diff which drops right in and can use plastic spur gears with diff teeth......the plastic spur rubs for a little bit but then it wears and is fine........would like to fix the arrma diff though

I was replacing the oil in the diffs on my Typhon, and when I got to the center diff the gear in the bottom of the cup was broken down the center. What would cause that? The rest of the drive train was in great shape, and it doesn't have that much run time on it. Also both shocks shafts on the right side of it were bent as well, so apparently someone wrecked it pretty hard, but I didn't see any apparent damage to the vehicle. Thanks for a great video.

i'm confusing bro with 2 shims and 1 shims on both side of the satelite gears..anyway bro when u fixed it and turn the gears all around it is not hard or rough? is it smooth isn't it?or it depends of the shim size right?
@TpPartsRcXtreme9 жыл бұрын
the 1-2 was actually stock on this diff..so i have done it on all. the bigger is placed behind the Planetary gears, this saves the diffcup,o-ring and ad little more pressure towards all gears. it is smooth,BUT you can feel the teeth.

Center diff was different for me also because I went from stock oils to 500k, and the screws are tight with both plainitary shims this time (was much looser than f/r, but it's the thickness of the oil that males it much harder to turn than original. When going much thicker oil how can you tell you got the shimming right as it going to be harder to turn?

I'm considering spooling my arrma kraton.. I'm experiencing a lot of understeer in high and mid grip cenarios. I noticed the center differential is extremely loose and open differentials as a whole are very loose differentials and don't apply power properly to each tire. Would you recommend running a spool? I'm looking to do sharp drifts in high-grip Street scenarios with a blip of the throttle at the moment with the best suspension setting a performance very poorly with high amount of understeer. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations? The arrma is barely capable of turning around on a 20-foot radius at less than 5 miles an hour. On high grip scenarios the arrma kraton is ridiculously crappy when it comes to understeer how do we fix? this?
