Hi all
My friend Nick recently bought an Arrma Kraton 6s and so we went for a test drive along with my Arrma Big Rock 3s.
This isn't intended as a detailed review and is more of a run video with my initial thoughts on the 6s truck.
Hope you enjoy this.
I didn't include any prices as they are different depending on where you live and prices seem to be going up at the moment. I'm sure that Google will soon tell you :-)
Many thanks for watching

Thanks for the video! I own a 3s Associated Rival MT10 V2 and now thinking of buying used Kraton 6s V5 as the next step. I found MT10 was already going fast like crazy cuz it was my first propper Monster Truck! But it was not exactly big as a monster truck as I personerly thought or expected, so my never ending curiosity is now paying attention to 1/8 scale or 6s. I found your video very helpful because you compare the very similar 3s Truck with mine against Kraton 6s, which is exactly I want to buy. Even it seems you use the same 3S orange lipos (5200mAh one right? hahaha) which I do reagularly use lol I was not sure if it was OK to use 2 of 3S to drive 6s, but it was already here clarified. Luckily in my country (🇩🇪) a used Kraton 6s V5 is sold at around 320 Euros. I bought the brand new MT10 V2 at around the same price so to me used Kraton is very appealing. Even if I do not find it not suiting me, I might be able to sell it off again at aroud the same price where I buy, so it would not gonna be a finacial disater anyway;) You made me go for trying Kraton, so I appreciate you a lot!

Hi there. Oh yes I think that if you can get a used Kraton 6s for a reasonable cost then there are plenty of spares and upgrades available. Be useful if you can see what condition the gears are in before you buy. A friend of mine has the EXB version and he really likes it. It's a beast for doing jumps. I've got a 4s Kraton which is also very cool. Many thanks indeed for your great feedback about the video. Hope you find a suitable truck and have some fun with it 😁👍👍

Awesome video Pete!!! Agree, faster & bigger is not always better. However, if pure bashing, max air, top speed & crazy stunts is your thing, go for a 6S model. Have a great weekend my friend, ATB and stay safe, stay healthy!!!

I ended up picking up a Kraton 6S V5 after not having bought or used RCs much for about 10 years (had a Helion Dominus 10TR and Traxxas 1/16 Summit VXL back then). Recently kind of got back into with some cheap DEERCs on a camping trip with friends, then I got my on Dominus 10TR out later and it's in various states of derepair. I've done a good bit of work getting it running again, replacing the pinion and spur motor gears and the front end diff. Steering is just loose which appears to be the servo saver. May need to replace it or put a servo horn on since I did replace the servo itself years ago. Anyway, that made me want something more modern and that wasn't currently in need of wrenching so I decided on a Kraton 6S having watch a lot of reviews. I then bought an Arrma Big Rock V3 about 2 weeks after the Kraton and honestly think I like Big Rock more. The Kraton really does just seem like it's a bit too much, especially running in the fenced in portion of my yard with the dogs. Even in the bigger portion of my front yard (about an acre) you can run out of room relatively quick. Honestly not sure if I can just return it to Amazon at this point or if I need to sell it if I decide to. Still undecided on that, but if I can just return it to Amazon (along with the 6S and 4S batteries) for the full amount that may make the decision easier. The Kraton 6S is an awesome machine, but I'd probably need to find some decent locations near me to really be able to enjoy it. It's made me realize how much I think 1/10 RCs are really the sweet spot.

Interesting to hear about your experiences. Yes the 6s cars need a load of space to run and they are also a bit scary fast. My friend who owned that Kraton usually thinks that bigger is better but I agree with you that 1/10 scale seems about right and the 3s cars are plenty fast enough for me. To be honest we have a lot of fun running the Tamiyas around if there are a few of us. You can run them close to the people without worrying that you might break someone's ankles! Many thanks for watching and your great comments :-)

As I think you know I did go all in on 6s. I do really love the 3s chassis though and would have saved a few quid going that route. Breakages are common in my yard! My ideal would be a 4s upgrade to the Outcast. We wait on to see if one ever appears…

Hi there. Yeah what ever happened to those 4s cars? Be good if they did a rolling chassis version of the 3s cars and then you could chose 4s electronics if you wanted. Anyway yes the 6s cars seem great and if you don't mind a bit of mending and you've got a nice big area then ideal. Many thanks for your great feedback 😁

Hiya Pete! Great to hear your initial thoughts on these monsters! The run and jump footage was very enjoyable, too! I think you are right with your conclusion, the 6S needs more batteries, more room to run and you have to be very careful where you point it! I wouldn't want to be hit by that beast at full pelt. I find the smaller trucks are easier to handle, transport and of course find somewhere suitable and safe to run. But there is obviously lots of plus points for the bigger truck, I suppose it's horses for courses. Glad I've knocked-off for the week, I've been struggling to keep going due to those pesky health issues, it's been a nightmare at work. Looking forward to a few cheeky pints tonight, hope you are doing the same. Have a cracking weekend, my mate. :O)

Prices have gone up a lot on Big Rock etc. Personally, I would agree with you on the size of the RC. I tried someone X-Maxx in the summer, I didn't know them but they said I could have a go. It was interesting to try but would need a massive space to really enjoy it. I think I am more partial to the smaller scale stuff. That's a great spot to go use the cars.

Hi there. Ooh it's quite a big subject as you have two different styles of vehicle and two different chassis. I don't know if you've seen my videos of the 4s Mojave? I am loving it I must say although I did need to sort out the steering and esc settings and I've done videos about them. Other than that I think it is excellent. I only have the knowledge of the 6s Kraton from having a few goes of one and I've not actually owned one. I think that the RTR needs a bit of upgrading or you can get the EXB version and add your own electronics. They are great cars but bigger and heavier than the 4s line and so more expensive upgrades. You can of course get the 4s Kraton and Outcast. I do have the 4s Outcast and did a review of it. I think whichever you get they are great but just need some updates to make them better 👍👍

@@PeteWylieRC LOL 😆 I'm surprised that Kevin hasn't thrown 100 volts into something like that!!! 🌩😳😳😳😵🙏 Scale is relative on most of these things... But in Crawler Competition in the U.S. around 2008-10, the sizes got confusing and even gave some an unfair advantage. So we started taking wheelbase and Chassis length/width measurements, to break down Classes, except Unlimited, where anything goes. Unrelated....... I've got a DILEMMA. I opened this Channel on my phone, and had been using an old phone or my new Tablet ever since. I couldn't add my email address to my page. 😖😭 The "RC Elf" has contacted, and has been so generous with, nearly EVERYONE I know! 👊👍👍 He CAN'T contact me - unless he gets my email from Mark Bryan, or Christine or Uncle Bob. Hiya Carmine. Sorry for the delay in replying. Anyway I have received the Volvo Hauler kit from the Elf and there is more to come that is on order so I certainly haven't been missed out. The Elf did ask me to contact Derek but Derek didn't want to participate in the Elf gifts for personal reasons. I'm not sure what criteria the Elf is using to decide who to contact but one thing is a channel that regularly posts Tamiya content. I was looking at your channel and you haven't put anything up for a while so maybe it's that. I don't really know to be honest mate but I guess that there are hundreds of Tamiya based channels on KZbin and he can't gift them all. Don't know if that helps. Cheers matey.
