Arrma 4s Steering Upgrade Mods. Servo + Servo Saver. Improve your steering.

Hi all. A few mods to improve the steering on you 4s Mojave, Outcast or Kraton. Also applies to 3s Senton, Big Rock, Granite and Typhon. Parts used -
JX Ecoboost CLS6322HV 21kg High Torque servo
Hot Racing Fixed Link Steering Servo saver Arrma 1/10
Hot Racing Arrma 4x4 Aluminum Pivot Ball Set (Red) [HRAATF160B02].

My Hot Racing servo saver link pivot ball came out on my Kraton 4s v2.5 as well! Unfortunately I threw it away before watching this video! I didn’t realize there was a difference between sides! Luckily I ordered a new aluminum steering bell crank linkage set and it came with the matching link! I still put a washer on it just in case it does the same thing! Great video! Thanks from Ohio!

Ah that's interesting so it might be a flaw in that part. I think it is better to have a washer on there to make sure it can't slip over the screw. What's the new one you got? Hopefully that's working well. Many thanks for your great feedback. Very much appreciated 😁👍

Great video, Pete. These Arrma RC's are really starting to grow on me, it seems like a no-brainer to pick one up and bash it around. The wife has a Typhon buggy which I installed a Spektrum BL system in, and it's a beast! Very tough, very fast, very fun and well priced! Cheers dude!

Hi Pete, I was astonished to see how much play there was in the steering of this rig - more slop than a TT02!!! Nicely explained and demonstrated mate, and a bonus tip at the end! At least these rigs look well thought out and easy to work on. I do like the look of this Mojave, very nice. Happy Easter again Pete! 🤗👌👍

Hiya mate. Yeah it's surprising how quickly those plastic pivot balls wear out on these. I don't think that driving in the sand helped much. I think you always end up with slop in the steering and suspension if you have a car that is well used. Yeah I do like the way that the whole servo, esc and receiver box comes out as one piece so you can get to the servo horn. It's a nice scale looking truck this as they've put quite a few details on the body and also it's got an internal roll cage that plugs into the chassis. Another great video Pete , I really need to try out the hot racing set , as you know I went down the Kimbourgh route but this does seem like a cracking solution. Ahhhh metal pivot balls yeah there definitely the best way to go funny thing is I’ve used my Krayton 4s v2.5 about 10 times now and noticed a fair amount of slop . On all my 3s and 4s I’ve done that and had no issues but for some reason forgot to do so with my K4 . Right were is my bank card 💳 lol Stay awesome buddy Chris 🤙🚀🛞

Hiya Chris. Oh yeah the Kimbrough servo saver is certainly cheaper but what put me off is that you are tapping into plastic so I wonder if that will work loose after a while? Obviously you've had no problems so far. Yeah the plastic pivot balls seem to wear out really quickly and the metal ones do last a lot longer. They are quite a bit cheaper than they used to be so get it sorted mate! Cheers for your great support as ever. Best wishes 😁👍

A nice upgrade to the amazing Arrma, I guess all the Arrma’s eventually will suffer the same wear, as I would have thought that they all use a similar setup. Hiya John. Hope you've been having a lovely Easter break too. All good here thanks. Yeah these Arrma 3s and 4s trucks are really good but a few bits need sorting to make them better. I think that the pivot balls wear out even quicker running this on sand which I have been doing. Yes your Mega version will be the same and the pivot balls are less than a tenner so recommend. appreciate the video! Would love to see more upgrade videos like this! I own a Mojave 4s and have done bumper/skid plate upgrade but am coming up on 8th or 9th run and gonna need deep clean mine. So I have been doing research on disassembly videos and such. Thanks again, much appreciated sir! 😄

Boy it did have quite a bit of slop in it from the worn out balls. Nice upgrades and it should hold up a good bit longer now!

My gosh... More slop there than in Barbara's beaver!! 😂 That's nearly as bad as my monster beetle mate! Worn balls and slop are never a good look, especially when you are driving something of that power. But, after seeing these rigs in action it's easy to see how much wear the plastics will get. Great upgrades there mate, I bet that has made a lot of difference to the performance! I've never owned or worked on an Arrma, but they look well engineered and easy to maintain. I bet Holmsley is as sloppy as those plastic balls at the moment after all this rain mate?!! Hope you had a great Easter fella. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Omg Barbara's beaver 🦫🤣😂pmsl 🤣 Anyway yes my worn balls were certainly an issue. These are great trucks and very high performance but need a little bit of sorting out. Nice tips, thanks man. My kraton 4s understeer is the worst, i hate it. Just bought the HR servo saver too, i didn’t received it yet. Do you still got good result with it? I heard the string is still a bit weak on this one.

Yeah the steering really lets these down. The 3s cars seem fine with the stock servo saver but these 4s cars are a bit heavier. I found that the HR servo saver was strong enough. Not sure if there is a better one that will fit easily. There is the Kimbrough one which I did but but managed to break while trying to make it the right shape as it needs trimming. I am going to try another one of those as people have had good results. Many thanks for watching and your comments 👍👍

Does the hot racing servo saver mount right up to the stock servo ? And will it improve my steering i have the 4s v2.5 arrma kraton

Yeah there are adaptors for the different servo spline sizes. Also have a look at the video I did about the Kimbrough servo saver. You need to modify it a bit to fit these but it is cheaper 👍👍

I gonna try fit the 6s servo horn so wont need servo saver not sure it fits we shall see

@@owen8538 The thing is if there is no servo saver you will probably strip the gears in your servo. It needs a bit of protection even if it's high torque
