For now lol 🙃 patience is wearing thin. I’m gonna give this YT shit a few more months of solid effort. Also with weather getting warmer it’ll be easier.

I bought the new EXB RTR and have run into the exact same clogging issues you had. I am only running 26/47 on mine. I think I see a Max5 sensor end combo in my future. Other than the dogging issue I love this thing. I haven’t had it that long yet to decide which I like more but I have to say it handles better than my XRT.

Freaking love mine, by far my favorite rc, handles sooo good. Rocked the RTR electronics for a while and if you aren’t doing stunts they are definitely good enough. Got a Firma 1100kv motor for it though it’s definitely the sweet spot.

@@midwestern_rc believe it or not I’m still running the Spektrum 160 amps and it has been working fine. No cogging at all with 27/47 gearing. Not a crazy gearing but 50+ mph with something this big seems enough 😂
@midwestern_rc Жыл бұрын
Yeah 50mph or over is definitely the sweet spot for me. Do you run motor fans?
@fmc7209 Жыл бұрын
@@midwestern_rc yeah I do. The way I drive my cars tends to be harder on the electronics than anything else, a lot of full throttle passes, power slides with a few jumps here and there. Fans were DEFINITELY necessary

I like how you explain things in your videos. Good job, man! What are your typical run times with these bigger cars? How much weight affects that?
@midwestern_rc Жыл бұрын
It depends on a lot. If I’m just doing full send jumps or full speed grass runs maybe 8-10min depending on the capacity of the batteries I’m using. Recently I’ve taken them to a local dirt track and since I’m not using full throttle as much run time doubles. But I have noticed adding the heavier duty chassis and heavier wheels will make it go down.

I have them XLX2/800kv in mine. No flamages. Just the sensor wire goes bad. I replaced mine 3 times. But not so sure that was the issue. I went round and round with the castle and said it was because I wasn't calibrated right .. we went through it and still had some issues. Just recently I was hooking mine up to my computer and found the timing was not on stock setting. I changed it to recommended and boom.. problem solved... I think. I wanna take it out today and make sure I'm not lying.. lol. Have Fun

How come you didn't go with the 1100kv motor? It's a lot more flexible for gearing. I had the XLX2 and 1100kv with 27/39 gearing and it was amazing until it bursted into flames. I also ran the Max 5 with the castle 1100kv with 30/47 and the Max 5 handle it very well, no cogging even with punch on level 5. * I can't believe there's people that don't like the rollers. If they put the shitty spectrum 160a combo it's just going to come right back out anyways. They'd need to put in a Max 5 equivalent at minimum and a larger 56 series motor like what comes in the Losi DBXL-E.
@midwestern_rc Жыл бұрын
Literally just wanted the bigger motor because it looks cooler full disclosure. And DAMN. ANOTHER FLAMES COMMENT WTF. I agree a 200A ESC and a 780kv or even 1100kv motor stock would be amazing. But it would probably drive pricing up even more. Do you have issues snapping pins on punch 5?
@NepDouble07 Жыл бұрын
@@midwestern_rc Yes I definitely did have issues snapping pins on the rear driveshafts. The pins inside the differentials though have not. I have both a Kraton 8s and Outcast 8S EXB, Outcast with a MMX8S (formerly it was using the XLX2) and the Kraton 8s with the Max 5 and both will snap the the pins off the stock rear shafts. The M2C driveshafts have yet to snap on me, but they chew up the outdrives on the differentials extremely fast. They also chew themselves up a lot faster than the stock ones... Yet I cannot get them to snap. As for the 800kv Castle motor vs the 1100kv Castle motor, both are 56113 or as Castle calls it, 2028 sized motors. I never really got to test temperatures out with the XLX2 and 1100kv combo. I actually had 3 defective XLX2s and I decided to give up with them entirely.
@midwestern_rc Жыл бұрын
Yeah I may just fork out the money and go the Vitavon route and do the diff/cvd combo if I start snapping pins all the time
@ZSMracing Жыл бұрын
I wanna see this comparison I had an 1100kv castle system running 29/39 and it was pretty much too fast, looking at the 800kv or the new 1721 motor
@midwestern_rc Жыл бұрын
I’ve switched to the XLX2/800kv combo since. And put the hw max5/800kv combo in my outcast 8S. Honestly for the money I don’t think the difference is worth it. Especially given that both max5 and XLX2 have known issues and the spektrum system at least has a solid warranty. Oh and the spektrum system keeps the truck much lighter I’ve had to re do my shock oils and suspension adjustments since.
@StevenYDG69 Жыл бұрын
23 39 is so close to the edge in the outcast, that I think it's just too much with the little extra weight of the kraton. I run my outcast on 23 39 but it certainly doesn't run cool
@midwestern_rc Жыл бұрын
Yeah man 23/47 on the Kraton I had zero issues. Tbh didn’t even notice much of a speed difference with the 39t spur gear

Crazy I went 23 tooth with stock pinion and I cooked my motor more than once. 185ish temps. I need to rig up some proper 40mm fans to my stock 1250 and I think it will give me more service
@Dos_Rc Жыл бұрын
The ⚙️ coging might be from the motor overheating?! 🤷♂️ I believe that’s what my stock system used to do as soon as the temps started to get Up there Specially if it doesn’t do it at the beginning of the run and more towards the middle or end of the run

What would you recommend the Arrma Kraton EXB or the LOSI DBXLE 2.0? Can’t decide what one
@midwestern_rc Жыл бұрын
Do NOT GET a DBXLE. They are wildly expensive to repair. They need about 600$ to make them fun (stock they get SUPER BORING super quick). Trust me on this. I sold my DBXLE like 6 months ago and I still have my Kraton

Be careful with the XLX2. Ask me how I know they go up in flames? One burnt up my brand new Kraton 8s. Castle is a great company though and they stand by their customers. On the rebuild of my K8 i ended up going Max4. The Castle xlx2 is a great kit and a really powerful ESC. It doesn't have the self-protection nannies like the Hobby wings so just pay attentionto your logs and temps. Don't get me wrong, I love HW and run lots of their stuff to but Castle xlx2 is at a different level then the max5. Get yourself the bluetooth interface so you can pull logs and adjust turning without having to plug into a laptop. With the 800kv motor, I recommend 1 to 1 gearing. Good luck, oh and keep a fire extinguisher near by. 😊

Jesus it’s that bad hey!? I’ve heard on the forums that that is an older issue and since then they have fixed it
@BeautyBeastRC Жыл бұрын
@@midwestern_rc It's not fixed. My k8s went up in flames a few months ago. Worked great for almost a year paired with a tp 5670 1270kv and then the first bash I tried with a castle 2028 1100kv it went up in flames. Then the replacement esc from castle died on the first pack. They basically told me "we can't keep sending you xlx'2s" like I'm the only one having problems and there are posts all over about it. They also told me I should lower my gearing to below stock on their 270$ aftermarket esc. The replacement for the replacement has been fine and all my other xlx2's have been fine but yea. I'm praying I don't have another problem because who knows if they will help me. Really sucks because I have 30+ rigs and almost all of them are castle esc's.
