We did it before a cent of interest accrued! Keeping an eye on loans with reasonable rates to upgrade our car now that we have two kiddos and we barely fit in our 2010 scion. Grateful to have learned sooo much in those show, such as what a reasonable rate and term on a loan is!! Eternally grateful for the knowledge (and entertainment) this show provides.

Financial audit really helped me reshape my view of what a wealthy person really is. I used to think that the best dressed, stylish people who are always traveling, doing fun stuff, getting beauty treatments and plastic surgery were the wealthy ones. Now I know that these people are mostly drowning in debt and sometimes literally bankrupt. Real wealthy people are not that flashy, they tend to be more modest and most of them are wealthy because they’re frugal. They have enough security so they don’t have to fill the void with useless “designer” crap. It’s the difference between being wealthy and appearing so.

Same! Turns out I COULD have had all the same things, but then I’d be in debt and wouldn’t have the things I personally value like financial security and owning my home. I’ll take that over shopping sprees and expensive trips every time.

I would not say that we are wealthy, but well off. We make $250K a year and have a net worth of a bit over $3M. We live on about 25% of what we make in a year and the rest goes into investments/retirement accounts. We have two cars, currently a 2018 Volt and a 2023 Model Y. We replace a car after about 8 years. They are staggered so about every 4 years or so, we replace one of them, paying cash. The only debt we have is a 2.35% loan on our primary residence that is only about 20% of the value of the property. I know lots of people that make similar to what we do, but are in debt up to their eyeballs. They have a couple of $80K cars, have all the designer stuff, and let lifestyle creep eat up all their money as they make more. They still live paycheck to paycheck and a few months out of work and it would all come crashing down.

'Cold DMing' is also known as spam. Everyone hates spam. I have never responded to it, and consider the business owner to be an insufferable twit. Is manifestation what Americans are resorting to these days? Is it the equivalent of 'thoughts and prayers'? And also, why should someone pay him an American amount of money when he's living in Thailand? How can I have a meeting with the guy running my web site if he's 15 times zones away?

I wonder if he's got issues with his salon clientele because he spent a lot on a class for hair extensions while also saying he wants to get into barbering. Some men do get extensions and weaves, but that is very much a majority of women's hair work. Why spend the money on classes for extensions when you're also trying to focus on men's hair? He also said all of that after saying he wants to get out of doing hair. Which is it? It's SO chaotic and contradictory. I wouldn't trust him to build me a website because he is too flighty. He doesn't stick to anything and see it through. As soon as it gets hard, he gets bored and makes a new plan, and goes off elsewhere.
