It is good that your stint as a waiter went well. Many of us who have had to do such odd jobs haven’t been so fortunate. Western countries do value dignity of labour and treat menial workers like Janitors, Waiters, Carpenters, Plumbers with a lot of respect. That is true. However, some people who were able to somehow make the American dream come true for themselves, they DO LOOK DOWN upon such people.

I am a student and work part time in a restaurant in the US. Trust me when I say this. Just the way people greet you is a lot better here than what we do in India. We as Indians must be taught the dignity of labour. This master-slave arrangement that has percolated down since the Colonial era must be stopped.

The lady definitely took it way too far... But from a neutral standpoint, her initial reaction was natural. I mean, any random person walking up to you and tapping on your shoulder is not quite acceptable... The manager/senior guy of the restaurant should have told that the employee was mute... Having said that, the message was definitely a great one... We all tend to make snap judgement about people around us... It's time we stop and make an effort to understand 👍🏻👍🏻

It is a great story, script and acting. I had tear in my eyes for the poor waiter, Vivek. The woman playing a cruel abuser played it so well that I wanted to beat her up. She purposely spilled on the table and then put her feet out so that he can fall and then she got him fired by threatening to call the police. I assume that there are evil people out there who abuse poor people and I hope that Karma teaches them a lesson.
