I’m glad you didn’t though, Barry being introduced was one of my favourite things about early Arrow. Also watching Glee isn’t a bad thing, obviously. Don’t feel embarrassed about it. speaking as someone who does know the history through the comics I like seeing peoples reactions when they don't know the history, people that just watch the show cause those fans don't bitch at every little aspect that diverges from the comics, i'm a comic reader but I actually like when these shows change aspects from the books so I like how different arrow is from the green arrow comics cause it gives a new perspective.

I enjoy book adaptations a lot. Especially due to the changes and the new take on things a TV show provides, so I always get annoyed at people for bitching about every Little Detail that's been changed (the eye colour eg).

Even though Oliver doesn't act exactly like his comic book counterpart he still carries the same burdens, and even though Slade's wife and son don't feature heavily in this story line, the changes made help to define his relationship with Oliver in this version of events and provide context to events that will take place in the future. The changes made are there in service to the story this show specifically is trying to tell. Loving Comics and accepting that changes will be made to source material can exist at the same time for two main reasons: 1.Comics exist to be fluid and changes are made that benefit that iteration and writing team so why can't a show do the same. Comic Books themselves make changes to canon with new iterations. Infinite Crisis got rid of the multiverse as it was known, and then Crisis of Infinite Earths combined the first three universes into one and made a new canon, until Dan Didio said that in the New 52 the last 3 crisis's hadn't happened at all. Characters like Batwoman have gone through periods where they did not exist at all, and when she specifically was recreated it was with a new backstory. 2. Shows and Movies exist as unique interpretations of existing properties and due to technological and budgetary restraints they are never exact remakes. Instead they have made a point each to put their unique spin on the material in a way that is fresh, while still carrying the core values of the show forward. In a number of shows and movies this was seen through the addition of new characters such as Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series, Chloe Sullivan and Tess Mercer from Smallville, Agent Coulson from Iron man (I know this is Marvel), and in Arrow Thea and Felicity. But it's not just characters that are changed, prequel shows like Gotham and Smallville are unfaithful interpretations because they create their own backstory for the characters, but that doesn't make the changes bad.

Kingdrago101 I think you are missing my point. In your initial comment you said "I don't see how you can be a comic book fan but like shows that completely diverges from the comics" and then in your response to me added "I don't particularly like stories that can't make up their mind or switch up their origins very often". But the CW isn't the only one that does that. Comic books themselves change the origin of characters all the time. Supergirl and Batwoman both existed and then didn't and then did again with new backstories. Characters are gay in today's comics that haven't been before, or are a different race, or got their powers in a different way, and characters have been added to the comics that were created on tv or in movies, like Harley Quinn and Chloe Sullivan. All comic books, as well as the shows and movies made from them are an interpretation of the originals that make changes to fit their narrative. They introduce new characters, and change existing characters backstory's and races, to fit the story they are telling. You can be a fan of comics and like a show that diverges from the comic, because the comic has changed it's own narrative over the course of its existence and the tv show is just putting their spin on things. As long as it stays true to the ideal of the comic or the underlying theme, then the new additions are just a part of what it means to like the genre.

If I were you, once you start incorperating the other shows in the arrowverse into your reactions after finishing S2 of arrow, I would watch the episodes of the shows in the order of dates in which they've aired for continuity and crossover reasons, otherwise watching out of order will cause you to see spoilers and ruin the fun of seeing what happens next. The same goes for when you start season 5 of the vampire diaries and season 1 of the originals.
