Love all of your videos! I’m 49 and have been a Realtor but have gone back to school and about to get my BA then off to an ABA approved Paralegal Program. I’ll be binging all of your vids! Thank you so much!!

I'm considering pivoting from case management to paralegal, and these are all habits I've had to build in my current role!

Misty you have been my mentor since I began my paralegal career 1 year ago last month & your videos has and still is helping moulding me. I picked up a habit of “creating Todo list” everyday I have one and it has given me good timeline and “documentation” I note every interaction for every case I have throughout the day.

Excellent content! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and bringing so much value. This gave me a lot of confidence that I am well positioned to make an industry move, and gave me ideas of which experiences to highlight on my resume.

Thank you for all your guidance Misty! I’m one semester away from finishing a paralegal degree and your advice has helped to fuel my passion for this career. One habit I’ve created for myself is asking for clear expectations. I never want to flounder my way through a new task when I can easily ask what is expected from me in a given scenario.

To do lists are great. I get those days that the interruptions did not stop. I can look back at the list to see that I did have forward progress in my desk work. It helps kill the feeling of wasted time. I can also celebrate marking off a task!

Great video. I wish I could SEE an example of how you document everything. Is it separated by case? Is it a table format?

Hey Misty! I was wonder if you can go more in depth of documenting the communication and how you keep track of it. I’m about to switch firms to a PI and I want to get better at document communications.

Thank you for all of your tips and suggestions. As a new paralegal, it is extremely helpful. Would you be willing to provide a link to your civil litigation checklist? I heard it in your litigation video and think it would be extremely helpful.

Great video! Thank you, Misty! I am a litigation paralegal at an insurance defense firm, my caseload is pretty hefty (right now I am managing 250 active matters) i would love to index and document regularly but it is so difficult to keep up 😳 - do you have any suggestions for large caseloads? I did download your index sheets ;)

do you have a video on hostile work environments (aka working with lawyers) and how yo deal with it?

Hi just came across your page. Started paralegal position recently I am struggling I didn't get trained the best and decided to do some research. So, I came across your video. I was wondering if maybe you can simplify the whole process of paperwork? It's my first paralegal job and I find myself always thinking about work and that's not good.

Thank you for your helpful tips i this videos, Question, I'm still in paralegal school, we're being taught, that fee negotiation , is strictly prohibited for paralegal, and only Lawyers are allowed to do that?

So I'm in the process of becoming a legalman which is the Navy equivalent of a paralegal. I started training today as a witness for several will power of attorneys. I basically just had to sign my signature and sign my name.

@@ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray Thank you for your support! Once I go to Navy Legalman school I'll be taking civilian college classes to get my associates in paralegal studies. After that I take classes on military justice and learn the UCMJ etc. That being said if I do decide to get out I will have a fall back plan when I rotate back into the world. I'm very excited to say the least.

what if your employer is not understanding, my previous employer believed in staying at the desk in case any email or phone call came, I went to the restroom once for 5 min break, the attorney was not happy, and went off. Depends on where you work.
@ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray Жыл бұрын
I get my emails on my phone, which means I can still check my email when I'm in the bathroom. Do I? No. That's my time. That's YOUR time. If it were me, I would have reminded the attorney that a law firm isn't a prison and that asking for permission to use the bathroom in a workplace is preposterous. If the attorney fired me, I would immediately file for unemployment and perhaps report the attorney to the Labor Board and the local Bar Association so he was less likely to repeat his horrible behavior with another Paralegal. That is ridiculous, life is too short, and there are thousands of other attorneys and legal operations departments looking to hire quality Paralegals. Good luck to you! Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.

I am BIG on keeping it professional, too! I had one boss who wanted to connect with me on LI, but what's a girl to do? But you can later unconnect quietly later on.

I would ask you to reword and say take 5 min break if your employer agrees or they get fired.
@ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray Жыл бұрын
Nope. Not happening. If I need a 5 minute break to go the bathroom, I'm taking it. I'm not asking for permission, and neither should you. It is a business, not a prison. Don't ever let an attorney treat you that way! Let them fire you and collect the unemployment. Life is too short.
