Hi, thank you for your videos - I end up reading quite a few books based on your recommendations. I agree about needing another category for in between middle grade and YA. I am a school librarian in New Zealand and my school goes from 4-18 year olds. I often struggle to decide which category to place books in. Similarly, to the couple of books you mentioned in this video, I felt the same about ‘No Place Like Home’. I personally enjoyed this story, but I felt it was aimed at older children and adults. This was particularly apparent in the authors note. I think an added ‘tricky spot’ is that the cover artwork often doesn’t reflect the age a book is aimed for. I would be comfortable recommending ‘No Place Like Home’ to my secondary school students, but the cover would appeal to an 8 year old and I’m not sure 13 year olds would be as likely to pick this up. I noticed this is the same with the cover for ‘Coyote’ it looks like it would appeal to a much younger audience than it’s intended for.

I agree about No Place Like Home. There are so many that I think fall into that in-between category.
