I've never loved an Arsenal player as much as I did with Cesc, it hurt so bad . More than Ca$hley, Nasri and RVP. Hearing his side of the story is actually refreshing. He carried the team post invincibles and we didn't sign players to support him and it can get frustrating for a player with his talent and ambition . I like how he mentioned the fact that Nasri and RVP were the ones at his level talent wise and mentality wise but RVP was never fit then a season after he left RVP has the season of his life.

I feel you. Imagine if we had gotten Xabi Alonso with him? Man, that would have been the best central midfield pairing in history. The Arsenal board is guilty of gross incompetence and should be fired or receive some sort of punishment. How many players did we lose because of their lack of ambition? The sad part is that it is still happening to this day. We may end up losing Aubameyang now because of them.

These missed signings hurt more than Wenger's almost signed players. And Arsenal always seem determined NOT TO sign players that want to play for Arsenal. Alonso wanted to come, so obviously they had to refuse. It's still the same today. Ziyech wanted to come, but that dickhead Emery refused again.

Correct, I don't care what modern fans say however, I will never forgive Arsene Wenger for not bringing him back to Arsenal. People talk about Wenger being full of class, that was anything but. To not even reply to him was a slap in the face, and I was actually happy for Cesc to see him go to a team and win. @@patchh15 100%. Thank you for putting the blame where it belongs... with Arsene Wenger. For some reason, most Arsenal fans believe Wenger is above reproach and if you criticize his actions, it means you hate Arsenal. Nothing could be further from the truth with me. All I ever knew for 20-odd years was Wenger in the Arsenal dugout, so I hate to have to criticize him but he dropped the ball with the Cesc issue and had this information come out sooner, he should have been sacked for putting his own selfish agenda above that of Arsenal Football Club.

Cesc said it here. There were many players that didn't live for football. Were joking and going out after defeats. And then the lack of ambition at the club. Most world class players are ambitious and want to win so badly. Eventually they will get tired of having loser around them that don't have the same mindset. And cesc wanted to stay and win here but he was drained and didn't feel it was going to happen. Every year giving your all only to end up a disappointment every time. I get it.

But, he wanted to return and Arsenal, specifically Wenger denied him that.

I started supporting this beautiful club in 1999 when Kanu scored that hat-trick against Chelsea and being African, Kanu was my favorite and when he went to Arsenal, I followed him there. In the process, while watching my favorite player, I fell in love with the club and all that it stood for... the type of football we were playing, Arsene Wenger, Highbury, Dennis Bergkamp and everything in-between. When Patrick Viera left, I, like every Arsenal supporter wondered who was going to carry the baton in our midfield. Then Cesc came along and more than filled those big shoes. I saw this man dominate the midfield against "big" players like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Paul Scholes... and he was still a teenager! That endeared him to me and even when all my other favorite players left, I stayed with Arsenal because of Cesc Fabregas. He is the reason why I'm an Arsenal fan to the core today and the reason why I can never, ever turn my back on him. And yes, like everybody else I was heartbroken when he left but I understood his reasons for wanting to go back to Catalonia. If I was in the same boat, I would probably have done the same thing. I'm South African and Kaizer Chiefs is my favorite club in my country. No matter where I could have had the opportunity to play, if at the end of my career I had a chance to play for Chiefs, I would have taken that opportunity to play for my boyhood club. When Things did not work out for him at Barcelona, he wanted to return home to Arsenal, and Arsene Wenger did not want him. I don't blame him for that and neither should anybody else. If Cesc reads this, I hope he knows that some of us love him for giving us eight beautiful years of his very best. That can never be quantified.

I have another level of respect for him now. I understand what he said in terms of wanting to leave at the time. I think Thierry Henry's story may be parallel to Cesc in terms of leaving the club. This interview says strongly that a top player wants to win; if the team is not progressing, or not progressing fast enough a top player will want to move on! Arsenal have been slow compared to other teams. It gives a look into the clubs future, if actions doesn't change at the leadership level of Arsenal! Giving a insight into how Alonso was desperate to come hurt to hear because that really would have pushed us to the next level. For me he was a fantastic player, helped us out so much through bad times. I wouldn’t call him a legend as he went to the blue side, but he’s one of my fav Arsenal & football players.

Mate have listened to this interview twice now loved it great job great questions great responses from Cesc. In fact it made me realise this is the summer football died for me. But main reason I'm posting is to complain about the amount of other channels using your great work for their own shows and not crediting you the all very salty especially Mr Dt.

@@Arseblog At least we tell people where the interview is when we comment on these other channels, so they know and come to hear for themselves. It is unethical what people are doing out there just to inflate their bank balances.

Loved hearing this! One of my favorite players ever, a real hero when I was young. Hearing Cesc talk so fondly of Arsenal really warms my heart. He really felt it and gave it all. Such a shame he couldn't lift more trophies with us. Brilliant work Blogs, thank you so much for doing this!

Andrew, after this interview revealed so many details about those transfers things from Fabregas' side, you have to complete the stories from the Arsenal's (hopefully Arsene's) side of things! Great interview Arseblog!

Also funny that he brought up Totti...Totti is the ultimate blueprint in loyalty as far as fans are concerned...that guy could have played for literally any club on the planet but he played for the club and the fans he grew up with and he kept them in his heart and they kept him in theirs and yeah he didn't go to some super team and lift a bunch of pots but that one Scudetto he brought back to Rome is worth more than everything Cesc ever won combined...Arsene as well say what you will about him but he had chances to go to Real Madrid and Manchester and Chelsea where he would have had unlimited money to spend and pick from any players he wanted but he stayed loyal to Arsenal and for better or worse his legacy and loyalty will never be forgotten, 100 years from now when Cesc is long forgotten the fans will be saluting Totti and Wenger statues on their way into the games...Cesc was a great player and won tons of medals but I'll never be convinced that he gained more than he lost leaving Arsenal

If I was Wenger, I wouldn't have taken him back either. Wenger made him the player he was, gave him the armband and all the love one could get. The moment things were going tough he was off. Literally same story with RVP. They both sing praised about Wenger but while Wenger stick with both of them for years, both of them stabbed him in the back the first time they smelled better offer from the outside. Both of them could have been Arsenals legends, even without winning anything. This way, they're just some really good players that once played for Arsenal.

I do feel Cesc will go back to Arsenal to start his coaching career, under Arteta.. That would be his return home.. The midfielders we have then will definitely learn a lot under his guidance.. Xabi Alonso would also have joined Arsenal under Arteta if he was available when Arteta was appointed.. Unfortunately he got the job at Real Sociedad earlier..

To be completely honest, while I was disappointed with him leaving the club, I still understand why he did it and the same goes for Robin Van Persie. Even before this podcast, I felt that at that time, If I was them, I'll be thinking the same thing. Fabregas was our best player and he was doing everything but still, Arsenal couldn't make it to the next step. The same goes for Robin, who in his last season, was playing the best football and he was already 29. He was at a crossroads. The only trophy he ever lifted was the FA cup when he was 22. So, it was understandable.

Cesc 🙏🏼❤️ I’ve always said I don’t blame any of our star players who ended up leaving (the likes of RVP, Henry, Cesc, Alexis etc) it’s heart breaking the way our club is run these days. Once again ex-players tell us the truth. So FairPlay to Cesc and RVP for telling us the truth. And still nothing has changed, in fact the Kroenke takeover has made things worse. Sad times for us Gooners 😩😞
