@netweed093 жыл бұрын
Well good points but not only that. We need to start being ruthless. We're far far too soft as a club; we look like a happy go lucky gentleman's lounge. If Nuno got only 2 hours, why should we allow a manager 3+ years to come 8th, 8th and then say, 5th (this season after spending £150mn no less??). Do what Liverpool did; turn the screw if we miss out on top4 and get a top drawer manager who can practically guarantee Us top4; like Allegri or Enrique.
@raymondagholor27453 жыл бұрын
@@netweed09 Well the board has gone this route, ie. Hiring arteta, and they've stuck by him even after poor results, as for arteta, let's see where we end up on the table at the end of the season. However, right now, I'm more concerned at the new frenzy amongst our fickle minded fan base who seem all too often be blinded by recency bias. Let's concentrate on the bigger picture. Teams don't remain or get into top four consistently(we want to challenge for the top trophies, so means we want to go back to when top 4 was the minimum) for years by being lucky, and scrapping wins, and not blowing away teams every now and then. You have to give frightening performances consistently for at least two seasons in a role and hope one of those in the top slip. That's how Tottenham did it, and westham are doing it now. Who by the way, are the next team I see at that stage of their process. They've been consistently getting convincing results. I guess all I'm trying to say in a nut shell is win, draw, or loose, performance has to be the major tool to measure truly a teams progress, Not results

@@raymondagholor2745 I appreciate your discussion m8 but as I may have touched on I disagree with a few of your points. For me, 'fickle' fans are part and parcel of Football. Plus, not sure what you mean by 'recency bias'; we've been out of the CL for over 1500 days now. Our owners seem scared to employ the biggest names in management. If Arteta can deliver top4 this season (his 3rd with us), then I'll be convinced by him.
@raymondagholor27453 жыл бұрын
@@netweed09 I appreciate your discussion too. To shed more light on my point. I used the word 'fickle' our fans are easily swayed from one position to the other based on recent result, so they base their assessment of the team by recent results. So we often see things like: we're challenging for top 4 now because we're on form, oh the manager is good, then when results starts going south, 'get the manager out' 'the players are not good enough' 'kroenke out'... All these because they base their assessment of the team on results far above performance, which to me is more important. I'm more concerned about how the team is playing now, and then make my projections about the team, I believe performance will bring long lasting results in the long run.

I wanted him gone early last season, and I vented this on Le Grove with Pedro etc. I'm still not fully in the 'Arteta in' camp just yet, but after the international break, if we were to beat Liverpool and then go to Old Trafford and either beat United or draw with them and also beat or draw with Spurs around the same time. And then somehow remain unbeaten until we play City on New Years, then I may slowly start believing in Arteta's process. There is still a mighty long way to go though and still lots and lots of work still to be done. We need a midfielder in January to foil for Thomas Partey, and we also need a pacey forward/striker as well. Let see what's popping.

No no no, that's where a lot of people get it wrong. Under Emery's unbeaten run, you could see that it was unsustainable. We were relying on certain players to perform above their quality on a regular basis. Emery asked Bellerin to become a wing back, when he's terrible going forward. The man has a worse first touch than Man U Lukaku. He also asked Xhaka to be the pivot 🤮. Then of course, we were relying on Auba banging in the goals. We got rid of Martinez, Willock, Guendouzi, Saliba but kept Elneny and Kolasinac and I disagreed with the decision making.. I like Arteta as a player and as a man but wasnt sure of him. Other ppl wanted to hate on Arsenal fans like me saying we're fickle for questioning his decisions but still bantered us saying we'd get relegated etc. The players and club rate Arteta as a manager and we have not had a strong defensive back line and keeper like this since Wengers early years - I thank Arteta for that. I dont care about results I care about the team spirit/ fight and smooth passing and classy football I watched growing up. The last few weeks we have seen that and have a very young team and young manager with a rock solid defence, the only critique is substitutions and Martinelli's game time - I hope Arteta is doing this to get more from him and if so considering the Saliba situation he's not scared to make tough decisions to get the best out of his players and thats signs of a good manager...

The main reason Arsenal have turned it around is that the players in the team now can play out from the back. Mainly, Ramsdale can play out from the back comfortably. This allows all the players ahead of him to be able to do that as well. Even Auba, who is not known for passing the football in a Possession-based team, is performing really well. So the blend of bringing proven ball playing players in the key areas where the passes begin with allow us to form passing combinations and allow the players that aren't the best passers to use quick one-pass moves to not be caught out in our style. The team has players that can pass and therefore we have a style. So, I don't think we should be worried that we will fall apart and I think the emphasis of Arteta on building this style through training and player recruitment is the reason we are here today. I never thought we were a team with a top team style under Emery and now under Arteta we have that. I doubted Arteta but now I'm sure he's the right guy. Also, judging the Liverpool performance against West Ham we should be very confident. For the past few years it was difficult for me to believe that we could beat Liverpool but we're looking really good. We have a top four first team, our second team is lower mid-table level but I think in the next few transfer windows we will strengthen our second team and bring in a few more first team signings. By the time all this happens our young guns will be more mature and there is real reason for us to be excited. Arteta always said the right things and NOW he's also showing the right things through our team's performance, he has to be seen as the manager we needed when he came in and the manager we need going forward. So if we get injuries to first team players and don't get top four I wouldn't blame Arteta.

As fans of course we are happy! We started the season the worst we had in donkeys years and now we are rubbing shoulders with top end teams again. It’s about keeping it going until end of the season tho. 🤞 I think a lot is eating humble pie on Arteta though. I’m included in that. 👏 Man are we seeing DNA now. 😁

Yes m8, I'm concerned. It's not good enough from the rest of our attacking players to dump it all on Rowe. Odegaard, Pepe (when he plays) and Martinelli are seriously lacking in front of goal; it's not Arsenal standard!! You can't just hope to hang onto only 1-0's these days like back in the 80s!!

Great result. Bit disappointing still to see the timing of Artetas substitute making. Surely a 55/65min sub makes sense. Followed by a 70/80min then another in the 75/85th minute .... 🤔
@yabignoob17793 жыл бұрын
He’s not going to bring on 3 subs at once is he? That’s just dumb, especially if your winning.

@@yabignoob1779 where does it state to bring on 3 subs at once ??? 🤔
@Nostradanus863 жыл бұрын
@@yabignoob1779 what i said was take a player off on the hour mark. Gives a player 30+ mins then another sub 10mins after than and 10mins after that.. or around these rough times. Aubameyang & Saka had zero running energy in the final 10/15minutes. Anyway he's the trained millionaire manager & I'm just a long term supporter.
@yabignoob17793 жыл бұрын
@@Nostradanus86 Ah mb I guess I misinterpreted what you said. I agree that Auba should’ve probably been subbed, probably at half time tbh.
@Nostradanus863 жыл бұрын
@@yabignoob1779 tiz all good. Auba does still contribute off the ball & his presence up the pitch will always require 2 opposition players to monitor his space. That penalty was of his Saint Etienne days though. Nketiah/Martinelli SHOULD of got the last 10+minutes. 3 points nonetheless.

Because of this run I’m not concerned about the Liverpool match at all.. if we lose we lose if we win then great. As long as we turn around and beat Newcastle the next week we will stay in our position on the table

This guy was saying Arsenal were missing Xhaka after they drew a few weeks ago, Arsenal have won every game since. 😂😂 People always trying to make out like Xhaka is more influential than he is. Arsenal have had their best performance & form under Arteta these last few weeks without Xhaka so stop chatting shite.

Sambi been average though, we are becoming better collectively as a team I'll still take Xhaka over Sambi atm.
@blackcaesar83873 жыл бұрын
No one thinks xhaka is world class. We are just sick of peopel getting on his case like he was the worst problem in our team. Xhaka brings steel, leadership and good possession play to the midfield. he rash mistakes have become less frequent with time. he excels when paired with a competent partner. Sambi is still not there yet. he got bullied a few times today and was not inciseve in his forward passes, but he has time to improve. Edtt: by the way, one of our best performances was against Tottenham and xhaka was on the pitch. perfomances are down to teams, not indviduals. We have not missed KT in 3 games, does it mean he is nolonger important.

Im not concerned or worried (which is the same thing btw 🤦♂️🤦♂️) The squad is young. They are showing fight and hunger and i am sure we will lose to liverpool but that is ok. Thats how well this group of talent have been doing that i will accept a loss against liverpool. As long as the defence keep playing the way they are then we should be fine by end of season.

I don't want all our recent hard work patching up our -ve GD to be totally wrecked again though. It's tough; Liverpool will be the critical match for me to gage if we need to replace snoozers like Martinelli and Pepe once and for all. For me; sell Xhaka and Pepe this Jan and bring in Aouar or Zaha. Fresh legs and hunger, leave them free to score goals and cause damage. Arteta: let's see how ruthless you are

We will never have that arsenal back but we can rebuild the new arsenal but we have to sign the right players to do that
