In this episode I'm joined By Lewis Ambrose to chat about the Champions League draw, as we meet a familiar foe in the shape of Bayern Munich. @@famousmortimer7933 Careful with that laugh because you might crack a rib. Do you actually think that Barca would be absolutely favourites??? You need to watch a few games of Arsenal mate, and then you will choke on that laughter. I was hoping for Barca in Quarter Finals not Bayern. Bayern is twice better than Barca.

Brilliant show as per usual that back 5 that we had against Bayern years ago when we lost 10.2 was awful the defence we have now is brilliant we can beat them come on the Arsenal

When Lewis read out our XI the last time we were up against Bayern in the UCL, there were a lot of players that I've gotböove for and were good players, but they were not by any means UCL winning quality. Especially against THAT Bayern, thet fucking machine of Germans. But this year, I really am confident! Don't get me wrong, it won't be easy but we'll go through ❤️🤍

The first one is always the hardest. Its depends on the boys , the staffs, and us supporters to supports !!!!!!! Lets never giveup , lets never overconfidence. I went to that 0-2 in Munich. Was so annoyed. Bayern fans were acting so entitled. "Of course we went thru against you..." etc. Literally went down to the away goals. Nice beer there though!!

On the Ben White thing, Barney Ronay has an article in The Guardian about a shift in loyalty towards clubs. Except, hasn't this been a thing for years? The first one that mattered to me was when Dennis Irwin retired from Ireland to extend his club career. And he surely wasn't the first one to do it. Against the background of knowing BW's feelings (and the idea that, he may just not be that interested), Southgate's analysis of the situation is quite amusing too.

Southgate comments were clearly to avoid any controversy. But it's clear whatever happened during World Cup in Qatar has affected White's England decision

Dude I don’t know any happenings about the Ireland football scene so this was really insightful. It’s surprising to me that *some* players are now being more faithful to a club than their national team.

@@aakashdusane in fairness to Irwin, he was in his thirties, at the end of his career and if you're trying to reduce matches to preserve an aging body, I suppose you'd keep the team that pays your salary. But I was pretty unhappy with him at the time; still having the idea that playing for your country should be the ultimate honour for a player. Maybe (well, there's no maybe ;)) I'm just more cynical now but it won't ever surprise me again.

Fair play to Ben White. Southgate is just a politcally correct pawn for the FA. His team selections and tactical nouse are as bland as his waistcoat. England do not pay Ben White's wages, Arsenal do. That's where his loyalty should lie.

There's unquestionably a feeling of familiarity and deja vu in who we've drawn for the next stage of the Champions League, but there's also a different feeling this time around. Individually, Harry Kane's numbers this season are utterly ridiculous, and we always need to do everything we can to keep him at bay, but this is not the same all conquering Bayern Munich that we faced before. They're streets behind Bayern Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, and Eric Dier is currently a first choice centre back; let that sink in. Biased it may be, but nevertheless, I think that William Saliba is currently the best centre back in the world, and with him and Gabriel (not to mention Ben White and hopefully one of Oleksandr Zinchenko/Takehiro Tomiyasu), I honestly believe we can beat them and get past them. Manchester City/Real Madrid in the semi's might still be a level too far for us right now, but reaching the semi finals of the Champions League in our first season back in it for 7 years, and competing for the Premier League title domestically into the business end of the season for the second year in a row can't be sniffed at. All those back to back losses to them, especially the 10-2 aggregate defeat that knocked us out of the Champions League for 7 years still hurt me to this day. This is a wrong that we need to right. Bring it on. Bring it fucking on!

Benjamin White has a healthy arrogance of his talent and doesnt 'need' to sit on the bench begging for a few minutes whilst watching lesser players being given guarenteed starts. Fans hate us so its disingenuous of England fans getting on Whites back. They would only blame him for our eventual exit of the euros lol..
