I feel like a winter transfer of popular strikers is highly unlikely. It's not about the fee, it's simply difficult to negotiate. Also, the hype for Sesko can be misplaced. He might not be as clinical as many people expected. He missed a lot of one-on-one in important games. The chance that he comes in the coming month and immediately starts to score like crazy is extremely low. Guess how long it will take for those who cry for him to turn on him once he misses those opportunities for us. The same applies to Gyokeres. The only option we have that is both realistic and competent is Osimhen.

Zubimendi is a great sign - it's frustrating as hell - but it is a great sign. Perhaps things have improved now that Edu has been 'moved on' and this is a signal that we are going to be much more proactive, pre-emptive and with greater long-term vision when it comes to our signings. Does this sort out our current issue in attack? Of course not, but it DOES give me more confidence that it is now being resolved behind closed doors - watch this space. By each and every metric applicable, Isak was identified and assessed by Arteta as being a suitably workable asset we should recruit. Seemingly, Josh Kronke (with or without Edu) decided £63M for him was too much of an investment to risk. Similarly, prior to that Vlahovic was identified by Arteta as his striker of choice, transfer fee agreed to be met but the player preferred Juventus. Following a stellar season at Sporting, Gyokeres was identified by Arteta as also suitable to fulfill the vision of what he is aiming to achieve but again the required transfer fee became the stumbling block halting any progress beyond enquiry, rejected offer and speculation. Benjamin Sesko in probably having the must suited profile in line with Arteta's recruitment parameters by age, potential and technical ability, was effectively put on notice last summer for an imminent transfer this summer window. As a continuation measure of his team building and managerial ability, I don't need to see another secondary option join the squad (Jesus, Ramsdale, Trossard) but more primary choices like Odegaard, Magalhaes, Rice, Raya and Timber. Therefore I'd rather we put all our efforts into securing Sesko now if it's possible so there's no mitigating excuse or any confusion/misunderstanding as to his role like exists with Havertz, a goalscoring midfielder mistaken for a striker.
