Guys, You can set up a camera and video transmitter/receiver system for about 50 bucks that will let you spot that target steel much better. You can also record that video link if needed. Look into FPV, or drone FPV system.
@danroberts79756 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing! The only problem being regular FPV 5.8 only really transmits standard definition potato vision. I know DJI has light bridge but its still a $600+ investment for the downlink then add the cost of the drone. It might be interesting to setup a battery powered HD nanny cam. Most are pretty affordable now a days and they could just use a laptop to view it. It would solve the potato vision issue but it would have more lag.

You may also want to try a piece of peg board cut out to a 12” x 12” piece. Then draw a MOA grid on it with the Target shape. When there is a hit or miss, spotter can press a thumb tack into general location to then show the shooter. That’s what we used to do on the 200-500 meter silhouette range. Works really well.
@stevenscaccia49796 жыл бұрын
You guys should get your hands on one of the "everyman's" target camera systems (Caldwell is making one aren't they?) and see if they actually work. Ditch the spotting scope on hot days where mirage makes it near impossible to call misses in the dirt, especially with .22 cal bullets. Great video gentlemen.

556 is bad at 600 yards, you can tell from the dozen false positives and the dozen false negatives eric, an experienced spotter, was calling. I can barely hear 556 at 200 on steel at a range, meanwhile 7.62x39 I can hear clearly out to 300 easily at a busy range

@TheFacelessMan826 жыл бұрын
I am just messing around. I love .223. It's a great round but it's not ideal at 600 yards. Looking at ballistics charts .223 loses a vast majority of energy by 600 yards.

Ok. So onger that the down range camera is off set from the targets. But I have never seen a 5.56 kick up that much dirt when it impacts a target. And the down range camera can pick up the ring.
