The Patton-heads just understand he has an incredible voice that can do virtually anything. Even with Faith No More Patton gets most of the credit despite the fact he didn't really write most of the songs. They don't disrespect the other members of the bands they just prefer Patton's brand of weird over the rest. On top of that when he writes a song that actually makes sense it's just entertaining that it's always about masturbation.
@peterd94273 жыл бұрын
Some people are just very simplistic like that. He's great, but some people just see the singer in any band. It's all they understand, very pop-y thing to do
@PaulTheSkeptic Жыл бұрын
I think he did write quite a few songs for Faith No More. At least the lyrics. I know he wrote at least some of them. I'm not sure if people don't give credit to the other band members. It's just that, Patton's personality demands attention. It's hard to be in a band and try to shine next to a star shining as bright as that, if you'll indulge the perhaps dated metaphor. But, I do think FNM's guitar player is pretty sick and I love all musicianship in Bungle. He always works with first rate guys and that's important too. Put the greatest showman and front man in history in front of a bad band, it's not going to work.

mike patton was early 20s here, i'd assume the rest of them too. unbelievable how genius this entire album was in every way, the singing, the drums, the bass lines the guitar riffs, the samples, the lyrical themes, the horns, the mixing, the overall weirdness - it's a masterpiece. It's too bad this kind of music wouldn't be a huge commercial success, but such a masterpiece. I've listened to these songs for so many years, so many times, they're a part of me. Thank you Bungle!
@PaulTheSkeptic Жыл бұрын
I know. I can't get enough of this album but try as I might, I'm just not able to get into the other ones. Not to the same degree anyway. I appreciate them but they're missing an ingredient that, for me, really gets me into it. Energy. This album has plenty of weirdness and art but all the songs have energy and are very funky or manic or in some other way inviting me to jam like hell. It might not be a commercial success but it is, essentially, catchy.

I'm not saying that Patton is any good at all, but why do people always praise him over the whole band? There were another 5 very talented members that made Mr Bungle unique. Patton is such a goddamned virtuous singer, but he is just a complement to the rest of the band. I just think that the other Bungle guys deserve as much respect as Patton do, in my humble opinion

Because there are many musicians that can do this music, but not one singer in rock who can sing 6 octaves and do opera, rock, melodic metal, death/black metal , jazz, beatbox rap he’s sings higher than Whitney Houston and as low as fuck name another singer who can do all that?

I was enjoying their lovely little disco number until then and if you ask me, that sort of behavior is completely uncalled for. Didn't he ever learn this stuff in school? I remember seeing some old filmstrip about people who do those sorts of things and he was acting just like the little bad kid who didn't wash his hands. I forget what they called him but I'm sure it was something silly.

very early on they were a death metal band, but then they started playing around with whacky sounds, seeming to borrow or coincidentally sound similar to another band. in 1972, a band called "The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo" came into being, eventually being led in 1976 by now famous composer Danny Elfman, also changing the name to Oingo Boingo. not to say the two bands sound the same, but similar in zaniness and odd, although Oingo Boingo went slightly more commercial a little later on.

Of course Patton is a fuckin good vocalist, so this is the band of the century, i think.
