does this apply to Cambridge (CIE) A levels?
@SchoolofYule
@SchoolofYule 3 жыл бұрын
The content in this video does apply. You can check the syllabus from this link: www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/415195-2019-2021-syllabus.pdf . However, there are some nuances in the CIE specification such as the text being 1000-1500 words and a stipulation to submit the PI on A2 size paper.

@@SchoolofYule okay tysm :)) One more question- - is it necessary to include artist study of both; contemporary and traditional artists in the portfolio or is it fine if I only work w the study of a local artist after interviewing?
@SchoolofYule
@SchoolofYule 3 жыл бұрын
@@vatsalasinha2846 My advice is to refer to a variety of artists. If you limit yourself to one local artist it may make it challenging to situate their work within a more varied context. Pick up on the artists that the local artist refers to in their own work; they are likely to have influences that are both historical and contemporary. In your own practice you are not likely to make derivative work based on one source. Reflect the variety of your references in your PI.

Hi, how many illustrations should i add? So far I only have 12 figures.. is that a decent amount for my artists?
@SchoolofYule
@SchoolofYule Ай бұрын
@@artisticoud That sounds like a good amount! It depends how much you need to write. 2500 - 3500 words is ideal. Images can be helpful to increase the content.

@@SchoolofYule thanks! I've written about 2600 words and I still haven't thought of the title yet... my essay I'd based on the Japanese method of Kintsugi where they use gold lacquer to repair broken ceramic potteries and those golden seams basically act as restoration to the broken cracks... so basically I talked about artists that use this method and their interpretation of it and I also introduced the subject of plants and forgotten places, where I want to be able to use kintsugi and the growth of plants to bring life and existence to forgotten places, having golden seams flow through each cracks and crevices and plants consuming these places and beautifying them. That was basically Mt conclusion to my essay and I also stated why these artists that I chose was relevant to my idea. Now that being said, can u give suggestions for a title to represent my essay.

Heyy where can i mention the art galleries i visited?
@SchoolofYule
@SchoolofYule 5 ай бұрын
Gallery visits may be mentioned in the body of the text if it strengthens the Investigation. You may put reference to the Gallery's website in the Bibliography. Alternatively, gallery visits may be documented in the sketchbook on a page with images if it fits into the journey of the project.

@@SchoolofYule I just wanted to ask if you could suggest some topics i could work on for this component for a better result, because im having a really hard time deciding what works and what would be better avoiding. also, the new syllabus doesnt mention a topic proposal slip. All topics are open for me to work on? i actually had a few more questions but now my mind's gone blank haha

@@Nori-xf5bu What a great question! You have freedom to write an essay on a topic of your choosing. However, make sure that it relates directly to your art practice. For example, if you make poetic paintings of water, your title could be something like, ‘Symbolism of Water in Contemporary Painting’. If there are two artists who have played an important role in forming your project, you could do a comparison essay which may have a title like, ‘Expressionism in Portraiture: Comparing the Drawings of Egon Schiele and Kathe Kollwitz’. I tend to avoid titles beginning with ‘A History of…’ because I find the journey rather nebulous; listing off a series of facts about a topic with some incidental, sporadic analysis of artworks along the way. Make the title clear and concise, you should be able to imagine a structure for the essay from the words of the title. What is your work about?
