Daisy is definitely a difficult character but many people I think only have a superficial view of her. For my final school exams my class studied it for English and her character. She’s definitely flawed, as is every character. They’re all materialistic and looking for the American dream and not really connecting to anyone, just the idea of people. That’s what the green light symbolises, a dream, an idea of Daisy. Even if she stayed with Gatsby it would never have ended happily ever after as he’d been imagining her, she gets overwhelmed as all he’s thought of is the idea of her. Though you can view her as a bitch or selfish, she’s a victim of her time where no woman has stability or strength without a man, and all the men around her just use her including Gatsby for her beauty and so called innocence. None of them really get to know her. It’s pretty tragic but beautiful in the sense that it’s layered and not as two dimensional as people think. Sorry for the long comment lol

@CorHellekin3 жыл бұрын
@@paloma8632 green represents how everyone wants more in the book. green is the color coded as envy. (think green eyed monster), and is present in various moments. they all are chasing the american dream, but is unnatainable, is a farce; hence, none will ever get it. they all have their wants: wealth, love, status, but it will never fullfill any of them. gatsby for example longed for the ideia of Daisy, not the woman herself, so he did all of that, to get him nowhere. daisy was far too confortable in her position or wealth and class, and so on. I recommend reading the Tv Tropes page on the book, is very enlightening.

@@sicksadsociety5658 not just that. The edit is awesome, don't get me wrong, but the lyrics are literally perfect for the characters. Jay always wanted wealth, and even when he got it, he wanted the impossible, Daisy. He threw constant parties, almost every night, the movie itself is in the late 1920's early 1930's, the Art Deco era. And on top of that, the lyrics says "you're so art deco" art deco was very futuristic, while still chained to the past, very luxurious and demonstrative of that luxury, just like Jay was. Idk, I just think this song and the whole movie goes SO WELL TOGETHER, is almost a joke that Young And Beautiful got to be on the tracklist, but this masterpiece didn't

This is perfect. Not only does this song seem like it was made for this movie (and vice versa) but the way this specific video was put together, its perfect.

I've been too obsessed with Norman Fucking Rockwell and Chemtrails over the Country Club but now listening to some older favorite records of her I realize how much her style has changed. I'm not sure if it's for the better or worse, but that vibe was something else. Maybe it's the production, maybe overall retro aesthetics but damn it was so special

I love the scene when that woman looks back quickly when Lana says "you're so art deco!" for the first time in the beginning of the song. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Okay, I love this video so much, because it goes so well with the “beat” of the song. Every pop or bang in the song it happens in the video at the same time. And it fits in with the content in the movie! I love it!❤️

Club queen on the downtown scene Prowling around at night You're not mean, you're just born to be seen Born to be wild A little party never hurt no one, that's why it's alright You want in but you just can't win So you hang in the likes You're so Art Deco, out on the floor Shining like gunmetal, cold and unsure Baby, you're so ghetto, you're looking to score When they all say hello, you try to ignore them Cause you want more (why?) You want more (why?) You want more (why?) Cause you want more Young thing on the downtown scene Rolling around at night Got things that've yet to be seen Like you're rapper's delight A little party never hurt no one, that's why it's alright You want in, but you just can't win So you stay in the lights You're so Art Deco, out on the floor Shining like gunmetal, cold and unsure Baby, you're so ghetto, you're looking to score When they all say hello, you try to ignore them Cause you want more (why?) You want more (why?) You want more (why?) Cause you want more A little party never hurt no one So we stay out late A little party never hurt no one That's what your friends say You put your life out on the line You're crazy all the time Put your life out on the line You're crazy all the time You're so Art Deco, out on the floor Shining like gunmetal, cold and unsure Baby, you're so ghetto, you're looking to score When they all say hello, you try to ignore them Cause you want more (why?) You want more (why?) You want more (why?) Cause you want more A little party never hurt no one Not you and me A little party never hurt no one We were born to be free.
