In the 1920s, sculpture traditionally sold through art galleries or made to order for rich patrons, was increasingly commissioned for commercial production: sold in jewellers’ shops and department stores to decorate tables and mantelpieces.

Thank you for this extremely informative piece. Art Nouveau/Art Deco figurines have always been a major source of inspiration for my own scale modelling. I was only familiar with Chiparus, but this presentation turned me on to artists I was never familiar with(I have no formal training nor have attended any academic institution)
