There's resources out there on THE booth shot, but not so much on the other requested images for submission to art fairs. Any insight would be much appreciated. Of the remaining 3 or 4 images usually required on top of a booth image, (in the context of photographers) should the other images be actual digital files of the art or close-up photos of the final presentation (e.g. frames and all)? And of a single or multiple pieces? I did a few arts and crafts shows and art walks last year and would like to break into more art fairs this year.

Great questions. I will for sure put this on my list of topics to cover! To answer your questions about submitting work as a photographer, your jury images should be the actual digital files of the photograph (like the file you would print from). Not photographs of the piece printed and/or framed. One single photo per image…unless the final piece consists of multiple photos used together to create a single work. I think I explained that clearly, but if you have more questions or need a better explanation just let me know, I’m happy to help.

THANK YOU! This is the hardest thing. I have been doing successful markets for YEARS, UNLESS it needed a booth shot. Signage, signage

Time to get that booth shot done📸🥳

Thank you for doing this. I just noticed Mr. Bergman does mock juries as well. I signed up.

I’m new to art fairs and considering my first application😳 What do you recommend for displays when starting out? Any other must haves I should know about? Thank you!!
@EvanReinheimer9 ай бұрын
When starting out, start with what you’re able to. An inexpensive pop up tent and some grid walls are ok to start out with. Once you decide if art shows are for you, you can take money you earn and invest in a better, more sturdy setup. Many shows do offer rental tents and walls, so you may be able to try shows like that. Also, emerging artist programs will usually provide a tent and walls. For my first show, I used a crummy pop up tent and built my own walls out of animal fencing. It looked like a pile of garbage, but it was what I was able to do at the time.

Hey Evan, awesome video as usual. Year one was an amazing learning experience for me and definately picked up alot from you at the LI shows. THANK YOU! I'm looking at continuing to modify my booth not just for the juried shows but for increasing sales as well. Any suggestions?

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first year exhibiting! Here is an old and pretty poorly produced video I made about improving your booth layout for better sales. It’s probably time to make an updated version of this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGm3opaBpZWemsksi=9T6AUCHgiPsenp5I

Thanks! Insightful video. Good stuff to know. I was wondering how you hung your name/ contact info and Instagram code to your Propanel wall?
@EvanReinheimer8 ай бұрын
They are signs printed on matte finish aluminum via ShinyPrints(dot)com (use coupon code ER1208 for 20% off if you want to print there). I have sticky back velcro on the back of the signs and use that to attach them to my ProPanel walls.

This is so helpful, thank you! Any advice on how you anticipated how much inventory to have? I have a 3 day coming up over Memorial Day weekend (my first festival, only galleries til now) and I have no idea how much to bring along! I have a mix of framed, metal, and bin art.
@EvanReinheimer9 ай бұрын
Glad you found it helpful! As far as inventory goes, bring what you can and what you have without overextending yourself. Inventory will vary from artist to artist. You can always take orders for sizes/options that you don’t have in stock at the show. Especially for your first festival, don’t overdo it. It may take a while to figure out what will sell best for you and you don’t want to be left with a ton of overstock.
@JackieSchletter9 ай бұрын
@@EvanReinheimer That's where I have landed, doing my best! The festival was pretty clear that they expect your booth to have inventory on day 3, so that is what set me to worrying about "not enough". Agreed on the order taking too. Thanks again!
@EvanReinheimer9 ай бұрын
@@JackieSchletter don’t worry about that. Any art festival would be THRILLED to see an artist sell their entire booth. The whole purpose is for artists to sell their work. Sell it all on day one and don’t worry about it🤣

Hi Evan, I learned about your channel from a link in a FB group today. And I’ve already devoured at least 10 videos. (I try to always click “like” ;-) Cause they are awesome. Anyway, I was wondering what kind of tent you have? Due to the nature of my art -!I know a taller tent would be be beneficial. Please graciously share ur secret for that extra couple of vertical feet. I plan to share your channel link as it’s a wealth of informative well done videos. Tyia! Keep up the videos as time allows. Much respect from chattanooga. Xo

Glad you found the channel. I have a Light Dome tent. I was able to add the extra height by buying top rail for a chain link fence and cutting it to add an extra foot on to the vertical legs on my tent. The top rail fits perfectly into the tent poles.

Thanks Evan. I haven’t done a large juried show so I have a question. My works have an illustrative feel and just wondering if I would be denied a juried show if my website has a merch shop.? Would a judge look down on an artist selling their works on products? These are products such as beach towels, mugs, t-shirts, etc with my original works. Thanks for any advice.
@EvanReinheimer5 ай бұрын
Not at all. Most juries don’t even look at your website. They judge based on the images you submit as work samples. Many shows do not allow merch like you mentioned to be exhibited at the show. But they don’t govern what you sell on your website. So as long as your jury images and booth shot don’t include these products, you won’t have any issue.
