Die in Dresden lebende Bildhauerin Małgorzata Chodakowska spricht über ihren Kalender "City" für das Jahr 2021. Sie gibt einen kurzen Einblick in das Entstehen, von der Idee bis zur fertigen Skulptur. Wie alle ihre Werke entstand auch dieses zusammen mit dem Dresdner Fotografen Lothar Sprenger.
Die Bildhauerin Małgorzata Chodakowska ist mit dem Winzer Klaus Zimmerling verheiratet. Ihre Skulpturen zieren nicht nur den Weinkeller, sondern als Fotos von Lothar Sprenger auch die Jahrgangsetiketten der Weinflaschen.
Aus dieser bildnerischen Zusammenarbeit und durch die Sensibilität des Fotografen für das skulpturelle Werk der Künstlerin Małgorzata Chodakowska sind eigenständige Kunstwerke entstanden, die in der Darstellung und Gestaltung die Handschrift beider tragen.

Małgorzata Chodakowska and her sculptures Dresden-based sculptor Małgorzata Chodakowska talks about her "City" calendar for 2021, and she also gives us a brief glimpse into the making of a sculpture. Like all her works, this one was created together with Dresden-based photographer Lothar Sprenger. Why sculptures? It had to be that way. I love sculptures, beauty, people. And that can be depicted most beautifully in these three dimensions. A poet friend once said to me: "You still create the fourth dimension - the dimension of the heart. Where does the inspiration for a sculpture come from? Sometimes inspiration just comes unexpectedly. Or I go to a dance performance. Very much like modern ones. There are many modern pieces in Hellerau and at the Semper Opera. My favorite models are also dancers. They really have the perfect body. Like goddesses. And you just have to capture that in a sculpture. Yes, or I'm walking through nature and see something beautiful and the idea suddenly flutters into me. How does a sculpture come into being? It's like giving birth. First you have the idea in your head. You carry it with you for weeks, sometimes months, sometimes years. And then suddenly, when you're convinced that it's interesting and has something to say, then it starts. Either with a piece of wood, which is then marked and my husband helps me with the chainsaw to cut away the rough pieces. Or if I'm modeling with clay, the skeleton is built first, then clay is applied and modeled. Then the caster comes, takes a negative mold and it is then cast in bronze. This is especially important for fountains, because of course water and wood don't go together. But bronze is a beautiful material for that. Wood, clay, bronze... fountains? Yes. I'm so happy that I've done quite a few fountains now for at least 12, 13 years. And I'm enjoying it more and more. Water is life. Water is movement. And when this standing sculpture that doesn't move then suddenly does move, which is really just an optical illusion, you feel like it's alive. That's the beauty of it. And people love that, too. I try to hide that sometimes. That the water comes as a surprise and you don't expect it to be a fountain at all. What's important to me is that when they're not turned on, that they still work, beautifully and aesthetically. Even without that extra kick of water. The 2021 calendar is titled.... City. I had a beautiful exhibition in Wroclaw last year, in Wroclaw, Poland. That's also where most of the shots were taken. In a baroque basin. The main characters were two boys with a dolphin. That's where my children fit in. So no flamenco dancers. It was like my kindergarten in this basin. There we did beautiful shots with Lothar Sprenger. I've been working with him for over 20 years and we created the other calendars as well. One photo is in China. In Suzhou. This is a city of 13 million people. A beautiful old city. That's where my three ballerinas are. Of course I wanted to show that. So on one side baroque, on the other side modern China. Then we have Dresden again, a few industrial stories and a leaf in March, where the crocuses are blooming in my meadow. We want to go back into the landscape and see how my sculptures work between the urban architecture and urban stories. How is the calendar being created? We are already working for the 2022 calendar. If you want to record something in the landscape, you have to observe how nature changes. Right now in autumn, it's unique. This colorfulness. You already have to have things in mind for next year or the year after. When a new sculpture or a fountain is created, we already think about where we could shoot it with the photographer. So that there is also a beautiful mood. When a month hangs with people and accompanies them, something beautiful flows through their lives. So my energy, kindness and love. Małgorzata Chodakowska i jej rzeźby Drezdeńska rzeźbiarka Małgorzata Chodakowska opowiada o swoim kalendarzu "Miasto" na 2021 rok, a także zdradza nam krótki wgląd w powstawanie rzeźby. Jak wszystkie jej prace, tak i ta powstała wspólnie z drezdeńskim fotografem Lotharem Sprengerem. Dlaczego rzeźby? To musiało być tak. Kocham rzeźby, piękno, ludzi. A to można najpiękniej przedstawić w tych trzech wymiarach. Znajomy poeta powiedział mi kiedyś: "Tworzysz jeszcze czwarty wymiar - wymiar serca". Skąd bierze się inspiracja do stworzenia rzeźby? Czasami inspiracja przychodzi po prostu niespodziewanie. Albo idę na spektakl taneczny. Bardzo często na współczesne. W Hellerau i w Semperoper jest wiele współczesnych sztuk. Moimi ulubionymi modelkami są też tancerki. One naprawdę mają idealne ciało. Jak boginie. I trzeba to po prostu uchwycić w rzeźbie. Tak, albo idę przez naturę i widzę coś pięknego i nagle pojawia się we mnie pomysł. Jak powstaje rzeźba? To jest jak rodzenie. Najpierw masz pomysł w głowie. Nosisz go ze sobą przez tygodnie, czasem miesiące, czasem lata. I nagle, kiedy jesteś przekonany, że jest ciekawy i ma coś do powiedzenia, wtedy zaczynasz. Albo z kawałkiem drewna, który jest potem wytyczany i mój mąż pomaga mi z piłą łańcuchową, żeby odciąć surowe kawałki. Albo jeśli modeluję w glinie, najpierw buduje się szkielet, potem nakłada glinę i modeluje. Następnie przyjeżdża odlewnik, robi negatywową formę i jest ona następnie odlewana w brązie. Jest to szczególnie ważne w przypadku fontann, bo woda i drewno oczywiście nie idą w parze. Ale brąz jest do tego pięknym materiałem. Drewno, glina, brąz... fontanny? Tak. Jestem bardzo szczęśliwy, że od co najmniej 12, 13 lat zrobiłem już sporo fontann. I coraz bardziej mi się to podoba. Woda to życie. Woda to ruch. I kiedy ta stojąca rzeźba, która się nie rusza, nagle się porusza, co jest właściwie tylko złudzeniem optycznym, ma się wrażenie, że żyje. To jest właśnie piękno. I to też ludzie kochają. Staram się to czasem ukryć. Że woda jest zaskoczeniem i nie spodziewasz się, że to będzie fontanna. Dla mnie ważne jest to, że kiedy nie są włączone, to nadal działają, pięknie i estetycznie. Nawet bez tego dodatkowego kopa wody. Kalendarz na 2021 rok to tytuł.... Miasto. W zeszłym roku miałem piękną wystawę we Wrocławiu. To właśnie tam powstała większość zdjęć. W barokowym basenie. Głównymi postaciami byli dwaj chłopcy z delfinem. Moje dzieci też się tam zmieściły. Nie było więc tancerek flamenco. To było jak moje przedszkole w tym basenie. Tam zrobiliśmy piękne ujęcia z Lotharem Sprengerem. Pracuję z nim od ponad 20 lat i stworzyliśmy też inne kalendarze. Jedno zdjęcie jest w Chinach. W Suzhou. To miasto, w którym mieszka 13 milionów ludzi. Piękne, stare miasto. To właśnie tam są moje trzy baletnice. Chciałem to też oczywiście pokazać. Więc z jednej strony barok, z drugiej współczesne Chiny. Potem mamy znowu Drezno, kilka historii przemysłowych i liść w marcu, gdzie na mojej łące kwitną krokusy. Chcemy wrócić do krajobrazu i zobaczyć, jak moje rzeźby działają pomiędzy miejską architekturą a miejskimi opowieściami. W jaki sposób będzie powstawał kalendarz? Pracujemy już nad kalendarzem na 2022 r. Jeśli chcesz utrwalić coś w krajobrazie, musisz obserwować, jak zmienia się natura. Szczególnie teraz jesienią jest to wyjątkowe. Ta barwność. Trzeba mieć w głowie rzeczy na przyszły rok lub rok następny. Kiedy powstaje nowa rzeźba czy fontanna, zaczynamy wspólnie z fotografem myśleć o tym, gdzie moglibyśmy ją sfotografować. Tak, żeby była też fajna atmosfera. Kiedy miesiąc wisi z ludźmi i im towarzyszy, to coś pięknego przepływa przez ich życie. Czyli moja energia, życzliwość i miłość. To jest dla mnie bardzo ważne.
