Quick note that the water brush does not allow you to control the amount of water you apply to your painting. The water amount is crucial for most watercolor artists, so just a heads up! But if you don’t mind, or just want to play around with watercolors, the water brush is a good tip nonetheless.

Thank god I'm not the only one bothered by this. A water brush is only practical if you're painting outside. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for failure with it - especially when you use Gouache.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention this?? I thought I was just an idiot since I saw so much hype around it. But like, tou have to constantly change the water if you don't want the colours to mix since the water gets coloured, and, as you said, you have zero control over the flow aside from adding even more water by squeezing the water container. I've seen people say "just buy more brushes for more colours" but at that point, isn't a normal brush more convenient to use anyways??

For anyone who just want to know how to draw two perfect eyes, just draw them at the same time. Thats how they usually get pretty similar, and thats how most artists do it. Also, if you use acrylic paint, its really easy to peel it off after a while of using them, for example, when the whole pallet is covered with acrylic paint. 👍

For those who aren't artists, the last technique is called Graphite Transferring. Its actually pretty common, I don't know why it's listed as a "lazy hack" when artists do it all the time.

if you’re using acrylic paint then I recommend just not cleaning it for long periods of time - the paint dries and you can just refill right on top of it. this is what I ended up doing for my painting class in highschool, leaving my pallet uncleaned for 2 years. it didn’t just cut down on time and water, but it also makes for a lot of fun when you get to peel off the big chunk of paint once you do finally clean it, all in one piece, and then you can just start all over again

Also, it's better than washing the pigments down the drain. Some pigments are toxic to fish, like Prussian Blue, aka PB27.

A lot of these hacks that are intended for 'lazy days' are actually really helpful for disabled people. There was a long time where I couldn't really do much art because I just physically wasn't able to do the set-up and clean-up. Tips like these are so helpful 👌

I would recommend using a glass picture frame. As a fellow disabled person ive found its alot less wastefull, i use an A3 frame but anything will do. Since the surface is smooth and paint wont stick to it since it hasnt been sanded, let the paint dry then use a spray bottle to spritz the palette. The paint will peel up like you're using paint stripper. If you cant wait for the paint to dry, spread it thinly over the palette with a brush or somthing and use a hair dryer

Please don't create plastic waste just for being too lazy to wash your palette. I use old tiles with glazing on them as my palettes, since they can just be cleaned after painting with brushing. I've used the same tile for years now and I'm not a gentle washer, and it'a still as good as new and nothing sticks on it permanently.

Positive change doesn't come from constantly fighting against everything, and trying to come up with ways to say no to it. You can go and get water from a lake or a river nearby and use that. Just wash the paints elsewhere and get rid of the paint chips according to the recycling policy of your country. Lots of choices my dude.

My paint palette is just a straight flat piece of plastic that I mix paint on. I let it build up to the board until the board itself is about two inches tall with just layers of mixed paint and get the nice peel going

For the last one I scribble on a piece of paper but I do it with the paper on top of the good eye paper. Does this make any sense?👇You know what this is easier: 1. You have your paper with a good eye 2. You get a piece of paper the right size to fit over the eye 3. You put it over the whole good eye 4. You scribble on the top piece of paper 5. You flip the scribbled paper around 6.You will be able to see the eye so then you draw over the lines you can see 7. Remove the scribble eye paper(free tracing paper) 8. Do some touch ups aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there you have it! (You can use this method to trace anything) 🤯 👍😊

WATER BRUSHES ARE A NIGHTMARE. As a watercolor artist, I’ve struggled a lot with pigment getting into the tube that hold the water. It can make you colors muddy so be careful

Best Tip: You can use a rubber/eraser to remove any residues after wiping the palette with a wet wipe. It works good for staining pigments like blue

Just to note water brushes are usually used to go and aren't great for regular watercolour because it waters down the colours. Also lower quality brushes have difficulties with how much water comes out, sometimes too much and sometimes not at all. Definitely a good tool to have though, just has some downsides.

I have water brushes but I don't use them anymore as when I would use them the brush mixes the water with the watercolour and then the water would become purple, as it would go into the tip of the brush, when I squeezed it for more water. And then my watercolour was just purple, as when I used black it would go into the tip and dry. So I don't use it anymore. Cuz I also couldn't open it...

First hacks okay, I love brush with water in it, but last I wouldn't recommend, it only works when face is totally straight forward and even then we don't have that symmetrical eyes, and when the face is facing left or right, that's where the problem begins. So you should just learn to draw the other eye.

Here's a thing I do for paint palettes. Sometimes I need to go away from my paint project for a while but still have a lot of paint in it that I don't want to waste (usually from mixing). So I put a piece of masking tape over the "hole" as a lid, and it keeps my acrylic paint wet for days or weeks. And I can still wash out and use the other sections like normal.

I don't like the first hack, it's so wasteful! I also like peeling my paint of and keeping it for other projects, saves water and used the dried paint so no waste! The water pen is a good hack but instead of wasting time scribbling on paper to trace over, just get carbon paper instead. It's pretty affordable. You can also either use tracing paper and a lamp, window, or light pad. Trace over the eye onto the tracing paper then position it under the original paper where the other eye should go, use your light source to see through the paper and see the tracing paper, make sure that the tracing reversed, and trace over it. Saves so much more time!

For the third hack, you don't need a tracing paper as long as you already blocked both eyes in the first place. It's always a common problem that people put so much effort in the first eye and then die at the second, because they did not plan and do both eyes at the same time.

Funfact: Art is like life. You have to work with the mess, to create beautiful pictures. You will get your hands dirty. You will get a scratch or two. You will make happy little accidents to get to where you would like to be. And there is no such thing as lazy Artists. But there is a thing like burned out flames. Artists will never give up and get through everything that life throws at them. As a kid, you where told to always be careful, to not get your hands dirty and you are thought, that your clothes also have to be always clean. You are not allowed to play in the dirt, because if you make any mistake and get your clothes dirty, your parents will yell at you, blame you and ignore you. Also they will not show you any love. And that is why many of you, are careful as f***, to never ever EVER make a mistake. Some of you, are even afraid to join a hobby, because it has to be perfect from the first day on, even, if you just started as a beginner. So because of that, many of you, don't even start in the first place because, it all could go wrong. That is why many people struggle in this world. It always has to be clean and neat and perfect and if it isn't, you'll get punished for the rest of your life. This is, how many of you think and it's very sad. Seeing this video, just makes me mad. Being an Artist, isn't about how clean you work to get to where you would like to be. It's about to get your hands dirty and pull through the dirt to create whatever you would like to create. I don't to traditional painting, but I paint miniatures with acrylic paints. The miniatures require priming before paint, so I always have some rattlecans of it around. When the palette starts looking grody, I just give it a layer of primer on top of the acrylic paint. Also has the benefit of being able to test colours on the exact material.
